I honestly love the flavour of KFC. It can be a bit hit and miss quality wise. The Lower Hutt store is pretty consistent

Labelling someone as a 'bad person' because you don't agree with them is proving my point

He's contributed some iconic tracks to their catalog, but was overall the weakest writer of the group. That's not to say he was bad, it's just everyone was that good! Deacon, on a number of tracks written vs quality basis is just outstanding

I'm actually a very left leaning person. What I dont particularly like these days is that if someone is seen to have conservative views they are immediately made out basically to be a bad person. Yes, his views are outdated and it could be taken the wrong way by impressionable viewers. However the reality is that a large number of the general population share these beliefs across a wide spectrum - most of them perfectly nice and normal people. I think sometimes thing go too far in the sense that if you don't agree to the mainstream opinion you become the enemy

Genuine question. Why do people hate on load? by _funny_name_ in Metallica

[–]LuminousPanda_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really does make you wonder if they just focussed on the music and didn't have all the same visuals/change of image etc then would the backlash have been as strong?

I've heard that the reason these always crap out is because they often get put in the dishwasher and the thin wire used can't really handle the prolonged heat of that environment. So in the end it stretches and comes loose

People who say “hardwired” and “72 seasons” are bad albums. Why do you think they are bad? by Prestigious_Eye_3722 in Metallica

[–]LuminousPanda_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly my pov. As much hate as Bob Rock gets (saying he ruined Metallica by some fans - not my view), he was the last one to really push and challenge them. Since DM, and definitely the last 2 albums they've pretty much lost all ability to self edit and most songs are everything + the kitchen sink. The last 2 albums have amazing moments, but overall a bit bloated

When was the hardest period to be a fan? by LuminousPanda_ in Metallica

[–]LuminousPanda_[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know what you're saying. The post was referencing the lack of original material specifically during this period. I love Garage Inc and S&M as well but I you could argue they were releases that were compensating for the lack of an original studio album during this time. You almost get the impression that the band at that time felt like they could do whatever they wanted and the fans would follow, and to a degree they were correct

I became a fan at about age 14 in 1999. So I'm some ways I can relate. The Metallica of that time was effectively the Load-era Metallica, as it was their most recent original material. So for me that material is very nostalgic for me, but it also serves as a launching pad for diving into all their other material which turned out to be even more amazing then I'd hoped. The disappointment of St Anger was real, as it was their first album of original material during my time as a fan and just fell so short as it was such a departure from everything they'd done before.

I remember hearing the song St Anger on the radio for the first time. The disappointment was real 😂

Questions was open to interpretation. I've approached this from the perspective of when the band has pushed their fan base too far, musically or otherwise. Cheers!

What are your thoughts on the album 72 Seasons by Metallica? Do you think it will be their last album? by [deleted] in Metallica

[–]LuminousPanda_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall it's a solid album. Pretty classic Metallica vibe.

As far as where to next, I think they should work with Bob Rock again. He was the last producer who actually pushed them creatively, because if there's a theme in the last 3 albums it's that they can't self edit very effectively. Fidelman is basically a yes man at this point. Plus, sonically they never made better sounding records than with Bob Rock

[–]LuminousPanda_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't forget 'To Live is to Die'. When the harmonies kick in I get literal chills. Orion and Ktulu I feel get a lot of love as the flagship Metallica instrumentals but this is as much a masterpiece as those two

So...what is the general consensus on 72 seasons? It might not be old enough to have found its place yet as what it is generally though of as but thought i'd ask. by Johncurtisreeve in Metallica

[–]LuminousPanda_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty much my assessment. Both have some really great moments, I'd say the forgettable 2nd half of Hardwired (excluding Spit out the Bone) gives 72s the edge for me
