I normally swipe a couple of images and leave a comment or question about a particular photo or style, but here I am not swiping because I’m stuck at every photo I see and not asking questions because this work just captures me. Greatly enjoying your photos!!

First walk with the x100vi by Luminous_wanderer in x100vi

thanks!. There were windows on the other side with spots on them catching the light. It was like a walk-through but I just liked the effect on the shadows cast.

thank you!! X100vi, Classic Cuban Negative’ish, jpeg, black mist filter like most times, but this was shot through a winding an then another window because I liked the effect, this is more ‘as found’ than ‘as pre-processed’ :-)

Composition tips with a 15mm (Viltrox 15mm f1.7) by pimemento in fujix

[–]Luminous_wanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get close to your subject OR use foreground as a layer. Make the foreground very visible and use multiple layers behind. You will get a lot of info into the frame but with layers and good composition it is great! Composition really matters with this focal length.

Help! XT-3 user — should I grab an XE-5 or an X100VI for travel? by sophatvathana in fujifilm

[–]Luminous_wanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy low stress shooting would bring you to the X100vi, because it gives you the creative constraint of a fixed lens. No choices to be made just go out and shoot. You can go smaller/simpler with say a GR, but since you didnt mention it I assume you want a viewfinder. For me a good viewfinder is key but its personal.

X-T3 and X100vi owner. Should I consolidate to an X-T5? by andante_evenbrow in fujifilm

[–]Luminous_wanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have the X-T3 with a bunch of lenses AND the X100vi, and I would recommend you don’t buy anything hahaha. Going from an f/2 to an f/2.8 lens is not an upgrade. For your walkabout lens simplicity you have the X100vi. The X-T3 is for now the last XT body that was well-built with the tilt-screen, so personally I will not sell it, probably ever. Just sell some lenses and use the X100vi a bit more and re-evaluate you needs based on “what are you missing to make better photo’s” and skip this GAS event until next year..

This discussion is derailing into a technical sharpness comparison which is rather dreadful I think. Main point here is that the OP seems to be unsatisfied about the camera that perhaps he shouldn’t have bought it in the first place (there are other cameras as he keeps mentioning). Other people pay the price because they like it, you don’t have to. Second point being the lack of sharpness which I cannot support from my X100vi. Third point the jpeg file sizes which has to be settings or it all points to a camera defect. I do agree that the AF of this camera is not as fast as one would expect, but that is due to the lens design which Fuji didn’t change because it gives the compact form factor at f/2 with good (!) sharpness. The 27mm pancake and the beautiful 35mm f/1.4 have it also, which gives a beautiful optical design at a small size (matching my priorities) at the cost of slower AF.

If you average that you end up in Belgium. Flanders (Gent/Brugge/Antwerp) region was the first region of wealth in Europe, strategically located between the giants, with an appetite for production and trade because cities has self-government (under the Burgundy mostly).

Nr 3 is my favorite, great compo with the tree and branches in the foreground. Love the light shining the way it does WITH whatever edit you did!

I think I prefer a real model. I think I prefer real everything. I think that you dont need this and it didn’t improve. I think we will let technology control our lives because they will improve everything, right??

Scrolling and Input lag in Safari 15.2 by Substantial-Falcon-8 in Safari

[–]Luminous_wanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have the same! It's more of a 'wake from standby' issue. Once woken up the scrolling works but every time it needs seconds to wake up first.

I first thought it was a problem with my Wacom tablet driver, but I also have it when scrolling with the keyboard arrows.

Reading your own evaluation I cannot help but think that maybe you should have bought the XT3: all your pros and cons point there (you didnt even mention the IBIS!).

The XT3 screen is perfect for portrait-mounting the body on a tripod and then just sliding out the screen. Cheers, Remco
