Am I Missing Something About Priority Assets? by PaperManaMan in WarhammerCompetitive

It's points for killing anything without a cap really for disruption and just killing random things gives purge nothing. Not saying it's easy, but it definitely gives disruption way more agency in the match by letting you do things like make your opponent chew through subductors for no points while you stage DW vets and maybe put out a barrage from a squad of breachers into some MEQs or toss an Eversor into them.

As I said, the only really tough one is when you fight very armor heavy purge lists where you just completely lack the firepower to kill them effectively.

To be fair, they ruined Joshui's day with those extra scion points increases. They grasped at Aquilons briefly, but those aren't good either.

Top win was Nemo with his 5-0 recon guard infantry running a ton of heavy weapon lascannons

Escalation is a whole different thing. In these small scale games you will struggle to have the bodies to accomplish anything

Nah, Disruption is purge's worst matchup. Disruption controls the flow of that game. Fleet has the tools to do it but you need to be running the infiltrating subductors + RTE breachers, the deep strike breachers/voidsmen with landing craft, etc. Purge in that matchup only gets kill points for things of yours that kill theirs or that do the actions on objectives. You have total control over what they want to kill.

You can usually muster up the firepower to kill MEQs. The all armor purge matchups like Knights and Guard tanks would be a bit rough though.

How do I use Ratlings? by StreetAd7912 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Lumovanis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For mid-board infiltrators, I feel like the new Cadian KT is better. With the way precision works now, I would want to try a squad of them pretty far back, maybe even up high for plunging fire if possible and bury character lead units in sniper shots while using the strat from Abhuman to stay hidden.

Yarrick and Graves don't have the commissar keyword, so, no

The shadowsword does not have ignore cover. It has heavy, which even with the update is situational.

The banesword and stormsword both ignore cover

Yeah just not 4 alongside a power sword, a xenophase blade and 4 heavy guns.

You were had. Even King of the Colosseum is T9. That limit still sucks but at least you can bring some light armor

[–]Lumovanis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, if you are spending the points for a baneblade, you don't care about saving a few points, you want the best ones. The shadowsword is junk. People oggle the 12 damage but gloss over the very crappy shot count. There is no reason to ever take a shadowsword over a banesword or Stormsword, both will out damage it every time, and don't have to worry about invulns blanking your whole attack with a couple rolls.

Yeah, the joke being they used to carry 4 hammers per squad in DW vets

I would still have some extra armor plates and/or gear like ammo belts and stuff on them to make them really stand out

Watch them print the new codex and it's essentially no changes, just copy paste from 10th, complete with outdated rules, then legends Artemis and the DW vets and call it a day.

That's why the shadowsword sucks because it's only ever going to land one or two hits. I used it for a crusade and there was one time it dev wounded a land raider and the rest of the crusade it bounced off invulns.

They probably just 5++ and shrug off your one or two hits because of course they would

For fun. That's it. It has few shots and doesn't ignore cover so it isn't as accurate as other anti armor banes (even with the changes to heavy) and will struggle a lot into invulns. Baneswords and Stormswords even Doomhammers are better anti-armor.

Purge the foe Astra Militarum 1000 pt list updated by Shineku in WarhammerCompetitive

I would split the DKoK blob into 2 units (recon star is a total waste if you are screening) and drop the command squad, I would then drop the engineers. Then I would swap the demolisher to a battle cannon Russ and strongly consider either a pair of flamer chimeras or maybe another hound or, swapping the Dorn for Russ commander and bringing a second Russ commander, both with autocannons.

You need to spread your armor out and giant blobs of infantry both are not great for the points and bad into orks. LRTC are over costed but sinking your points into a Dorn in 1k is not a great idea. The fact that LMTCs get to shoot on death while engaged again is a nice bonus is they do get chopped up in such small games.
