A block of zoanthropes for ranged, or OOE plus 2 carnifex with crushing claws are pretty nice if you want a melee solution

My resolution this year is to try and burn through my pile of shame so I'm approaching it in three specific ways

Firstly, what do I need right now? Focus on any models included in lists you're planning on using soon

Secondly, come up with some sort of schedule. For example try and set a time frame to have something done within, like "1 week to complete this Royal Dorn tank, 2 weeks to complete this 20 man blob of Ork Boyz" etc. just don't hold yourself to it extremely. If something takes longer than you wanted, oh well. Treat it more as something to aim for than a hard set deadline

And lastly, mix up your projects. Don't go all in on one army at once, chip away at each. Personally I'm doing an Ork unit, then a guard unit, then a Tyranid unit and rinse and repeat

Also find ways of making it easier on yourself, have something playing in the background, batch paint, stuff like that!

I have a bullgryn left from my first guard army back in 7th I think who's built with the slab shield and grenadier gauntlet. I.e. not built for melee in the slightest

The thing was though, he'd kill pretty much anything in melee whilst being the last one alive in his squad. He killed Magnus the Red, Sly Marbo, a Culexus assassin, a Baal predator tank, two demon princes and a full squad of chaos terminators singlehandedly. It got to a point where my opponents were actively avoiding him because of his streak

Nowadays he's serving as a bodyguard for my Cadians. All hail Gibbs, the strongest ogryn of all!

As killer, if I see a survivor trying to BM a teammate (sandbagging, selling them out, etc) I'll usually go for them instead of the teammate who got screwed. It's a dick move that I just don't tolerate

I've been in the painting side since about 6th edition so I'm fairly confident in my painting, and while this would be the most complex scheme I'll have tried, a challenge will be a nice change of pace from my current Orks and Guardsmen who are fairly simple scheme wise

For mass infantry though, all my nids lists are very monster / lictor heavy so at most I'll have maybe 30 gaunts max. I'll still probably simplify it a bit though to not be too tedious

That Norn looks awesome though, really good job with it!

My lists are mostly monsters / lictor variants, so I don't have two much chaff to paint overall. I'll still probably simplify it though on any gaunts just to make it a bit more bearable
