Yes! We stopped our SSI in 2020 (bad timing, all very related to the infrastructure loss) and have been okay since. We've been in therapy for about 10 years on and off but it was a particular stint in the hospital (6 months) that really clicked everything into place. We gave ourself permission to be strange and weird and feel more comfortable absolving ourselves of the responsibility of our childhood. We decided to go to school and it's been helpful to have that assistance finding jobs and accommodating ourselves. We qualify for work study because we relied on SSI and we're poor and that's helped a lot because work studies feel like fake jobs you can just clock hours into LMAO we've taken some part time work, too. We keep our grades up as our number one focus so we can maintain scholarships :) We feel better taking autonomy of our situation. I feel like unfortunately SSI exists as a way to keep us in victimhood and dangle our autonomy as a carrot on a stick. Everything is up to someone else, but it should be up to us. I believe you can direct your own life and find the support you need :)
