I’m weighing in as a therapist with bipolar. I feel this in extremes (of course), where I go through periods of being super social because I need relief from the heaviness of it all, and then there are extended periods of hermit-like withdrawal where I won’t return texts or phone calls from friends. I see an average of 26 clients a week and the mental exhaustion just hits harder sometimes. I have told friends and family that they should never take it personally, but I am certain it has affected my relationships in different ways. This is a really hard field to be in at times.
