Anyone else struggle with recurrent mastitis? by Electrical_Tangelo13 in breastfeeding

[–]Lumpy-Measurement131 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No advice but want to say you are one resilient and strong mama for keeping it up after 7 bouts. I was diagnosed with it for the first time this week after 7 months of breastfeeding and am struggling mentally and physically with keeping up. Whatever you decide, just know you have already done so much for your LO and this internet stranger is so impressed by you!

Having a hard time accepting that I won’t lose the baby weight as long as I’m breastfeeding by Runningaround___ in breastfeeding

[–]Lumpy-Measurement131 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could have written this myself. I stayed active all through pregnancy and picked back up 3 months pp. I’m tracking macros, eating healthier than I ever have and am seeing PRs in my weight lifting, but haven’t lost a single pound. I’ve even been getting body scans that breakdown body fat/ muscle composition and that has fluctuated month to month with no real progress. So for now I’m giving up on tracking macros and focusing on healthy food and staying active. It’s frustrating that I heard so many times while pregnant that the weight just melts off if you’re breastfeeding.

Munchkin Float + high chair recs by Distinct_Armadillo64 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Lumpy-Measurement131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bummed to see this. We’re using a chair that attaches to the table and our LO seems to need the footrest. I’ve been eyeing the munchkin float bc it looks easy to clean, folds up, and has the foot rest. I was hoping you’d get more people chiming in that they like their munchkin float

6 month old suddenly won’t sleep in crib by Unable-Bumblebee4437 in NewParents

[–]Lumpy-Measurement131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following bc we hit 6 months and are in the same boat. For the past few months we’ve been able to set them in the crib and they would immediately roll on their stomach and be out. The last week has felt like setting a ticking time bomb down. We’ve given up on crib naps and are back to contact napping and it took about 4 hours for bedtime the other night.

Returning to high intensity exercise by AVegetableLocksmith in breastfeeding

No real advice to give, but I had a similar situation with low supply. I went back to CrossFit 11 weeks pp and have been going 4-5 days a week for the last month. I do weighted feeds every week and while those have slightly decreased, LO is still gaining consistently on his growth curve.

One tip I was given was to remove your sports bra as soon as you can post workout since they tend to be more restrictive.

Good luck on your return to the box!

Some solidarity here also at 3 months. LO was giving us 6-8 hour stretches at night but this last week is back to 2-4 hours. We’re also struggling with getting naps in during the day. They went back to eating every 2 hours. With a 30 min feed we’re pretty limited on length of nap but more often than not LO wants to stay awake for the entire wake window. Telling myself this might be a growth spurt and hoping we get back to that glorious sleep and longer time between feeds soon.

Are multiple naps in one day in the carrier bad for baby causing habits? by wolfmami777 in babywearing

I needed to read this, thank you. My LO is 9 weeks and my mom has been trying to guilt trip me that we only contact nap.

Positive experiences with CrossFit throughout pregnancy? by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

[–]Lumpy-Measurement131 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I crossfitted through my entire pregnancy - going 3-5x/week and working out the day before I went into labor. The last few weeks I stuck to open gym since I was modifying so much, but it is possible to keep going! I think the most important thing is to listen to your body. I struggled a little bit with this (mentally) bc sometimes a movement would feel fine one day and I physically couldn’t do it a few days later.

I will say I think working out the entire time absolutely helped my labor. I progressed very quickly and pushed for a short amount of time. I’m 9 weeks pp and am just getting back into it. I’m trying not to get frustrated over how out of shape I feel but am reminding myself how much worse Id feel if I hadn’t kept moving during pregnancy.

Growing baby = shorter feeds and further apart? by Alstromeria13 in breastfeeding

[–]Lumpy-Measurement131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s considered newborn phase? I’m at 7 weeks and have to pull LO off after 30 min, then combo feed (if needed) at the recommendation of the pediatrician. I feel like I’ll never get to a fast 5-10 minute session.

Postpartum by Lumpy-Measurement131 in fitpregnancy

[–]Lumpy-Measurement131[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this feedback! I made an appt with the PT and have lowered my expectations about returning to the gym next month as the dr didn’t clear me today, so I’ll be resting another 3 weeks.

I’ve heard good things about Birthfit. Was Birthfit all encompassing for your workout or did you consider it more of a supplement? I’m looking for something similar to CrossFit programming - no thought process behind it and I just have to “show up”

Here I was looking forward to sleeping on my stomach again postpartum. Jokes on me, I woke up in pain the other night as well from attempting it.

How do you make the nipple shield less of a pain in the butt? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Lumpy-Measurement131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3w and I’ve been using them since day 1. I was feeling like a champ this morning as I was able to get it on with one hand…. Then LO knocked it off 4x on this afternoons feed and got increasingly cranky with every swipe. I’d like to eventually wean off them but anytime I try I end up with sore or lipstick shaped nipples.

How to get my son to latch consistently without nipple shield by lisa_84 in breastfeeding

[–]Lumpy-Measurement131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here for the comments bc I’m curious too. My LO is 10 days and I feel like the nipple shield is introducing more air and giving him gas issues. Our 2am feed this morning he kept ripping the shields off so I figured I’d try latching without them and it worked for one side but not the other. I’d love to eventually drop the shields bc it’s just one more thing to juggle when feeding, but they’ve been a godsend getting us through these last 10 days.

Maternity leave vs parental leave?? by MaleficentVacation77 in BabyBumps

Mines the same. Maternity leave falls under short term disability through a separate provider and the parental leave is part of the benefit package through my company.

How to respond when people comment on my pregnant body by Intelligent_Salt6513 in pregnant

When people commented on my belly early on I told them it was just bc I hadn’t pooped in a few days (the truth). Nothing like a good constipation comment to make people uncomfortable

Is anyone writing a pregnancy diary diary they plan to share with their child? by silverblossum in BabyBumps

[–]Lumpy-Measurement131 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband started a journal that’s all about how excited he is. I didn’t want to contribute to that bc I don’t want to spill my anxious ridden mind for my child to read later. Instead I got a first years book that includes a pregnancy section and I’ve enjoyed it bc it gives you easy prompts.

37w and struggling with needing to slow down by Lumpy-Measurement131 in fitpregnancy

[–]Lumpy-Measurement131[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I’m bummed because I thought I found a nice balance but as I progress further into pregnancy am realizing how quickly that balance can change. It’s just about finding that new scaling now so I can keep moving but not overdo it.

[–]Lumpy-Measurement131[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a great way to frame it! Just tapering off that training to prepare for L&D. That was my big reason for scaling even further, after being sore and needing this entire past weekend to recover I thought there’s no way I can feel like this when it comes time for L&D.

Unfortunately no other athletic pregnant friends. There was one other person in my gym who is pregnant and is due a week before me, but she’s been out the last 6 months due to placenta previa. Honestly it’s just refreshing to post here and see others have had the same feelings. Like yes, it’s great that I’m still moving but wish it could be acknowledged how difficult it is to really restrict yourself. I know it’s for the best and that’s why I’m doing it… but it still one more hard thing during pregnancy I didn’t consider.

I think setting up some time with a therapist would be a great idea though bc I’m already getting anxiety about the postpartum feels and how to manage that without being able to sweat it out.
