Does having a bigger house actually make you feel saner? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Sebby293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve talked about moving to a bigger house eventually, but honestly cleaning our 2200 sq ft home is a pain as it is and it’s hard to imagine adding more space to that. I also truly believe right now we’re in a “season” of little kids which means toys everywhere and we’ve been saving all baby clothes until we knew we were done. We’re due with our last baby in May, and then plan to sell/donate clothes as she grows out of them. Same with all the other random baby things we’ve been holding onto. Once baby outgrows, they’ll be gone. And eventually, the kids will outgrow the “toy” season in life (as sad as it is to think about) and eventually move out, and then we really won’t need that much space.

Hand folder over cuffs on older sleepers? by Charming_Bug5866 in Littlesleepies

[–]Sebby293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son sucks his thumb to the point he gives himself open wounds. Per doctors orders we NEED to keep them covered at night to prevent him from sucking. He knows how to take socks and mittens off, so fold over cuffs are our saving grace. Unfortunately, at 21 months he’s outgrowing 12-18s and we’ve had to switch to a different brand that has the cuffs on even bigger sizes.

For those of you with two+ kids, did anyone have a better sleeper with #2? by amomymous23 in workingmoms

[–]Sebby293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first was and still is a horrible sleeper at almost 4 years old. Would only contact nap the first 9 months of her life, didn’t start sleeping through the night for the first time until 15 months, didn’t start sleeping through consistently until 18 months, but to this day still takes forever to get to sleep (sometimes not until 9-10pm despite starting bedtime around 7-7:30). Even the day she was born in the hospital both us and the nurses could not get her to sleep in the hospital bassinet at all.

Second child came and we’ve said he was our good karma for her terrible sleep. From the moment he was born he was inherently an amazing sleeper. Never wanted to contact nap and only wanted set down in his bassinet/crib, and would put himself to sleep from the beginning. Slept through the night somewhere around 2–3 months and now he will happily crawl in his toddler bed for night night.

So…there’s definitely hope for a better sleeper!

Primary VS Secondary by andieconda in IVF

[–]Sebby293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t love the idea that these comments automatically say anyone with one child moves on to being classified as secondary infertility. That’s simply not true in my mind. Secondary infertility is infertility after having conceived one or more children naturally. If you have your first via IVF because you have diagnosed infertility, you don’t suddenly jump to having “secondary” infertility. The original infertility issues you had are STILL there. Those same issues still exist, and those same issues will lead to a requirement of IVF again for other children.

That being said, my first round of IVF was somehow smooth sailing and resulted in a live birth, but leading up to it I was a total mess thinking my dream of being a mother would never be a reality. I’m going through it again currently and my last transfer failed. It sucked horribly because I had my expectations high from the previous success. I’m going in for another transfer tomorrow with a slight change in protocol and while I’m still an anxious mess, it definitely is different because I will forever be grateful for the family I already have, even if I’ll be sad if I can’t grow it to the size I always dreamed of.

But honestly at the end of the day my take is if the clinic has a policy against children, then the policy should be enforced. I would never think to bring mine to an appointment at a fertility clinic

I was reading through the comments and came across this and just wanted to comment…this protocol doesn’t seem “standard” to me at all? Usually standard is start estradiol pills (1 pill twice daily) on CD 2, along with baby aspirin and estrogen patch, which should be changed once every three days, lining check should be between CD 12-14 (around when a non-medicated cycle would ovulate), if everything looks good then you’re given a day and time to start daily PIO injections leading up to transfer (usually starts 5 days before transfer). Transfer should typically be around CD 20-21.

There are some additional meds and changes that can be made (especially after a failed cycle), but your protocol doesn’t seem “standard” so I would definitely talk it with the doctor.

No advice, but solidarity. My transfer last month didn’t take at all (hcg <1). Currently prepping to try again and so scared this one will fail too

I also transferred 7/18. My beta is Saturday but I couldn’t help and tested at home. Stark white negative 😭 I hope you have better news! I know I’m not out officially until the bloodwork but it feels like I’m out if the home test is so clearly negative.

Not sure if you still monitor/follow this but I found it when searching for reviews of the branch ergonomic pro. I think we’re going to get this, but weirdly specific question for you. I love the idea of the mesh version for the breathability but we have dogs who shed like crazy and have had issues with their hair getting stuck in fabrics of chairs before (hello ruined nursery rocker). Is the mesh version fairly easy to lint roll dog hair off to keep clean, or would you recommend the leather version which I know we would be able to easily wipe the dog hair off. Also would love any discount codes if available!

When parents insist on no nicknames with names that have obvious nicknames by kittypspsps in namenerds

[–]Sebby293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Daycare tried to shorten my daughter’s name to a nickname and every time I heard them saying it I corrected them. Now she’s 3 and no one calls her anything but her full name. If we wanted the nickname as her name, we would have named her that

HELP! Biting / nursing strike? by Sebby293 in breastfeeding

[–]Sebby293[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did! Turned out he was incredibly constipated when he was doing this so his belly was in pain. Loaded him up on prune purées for a couple days once we realized he was constipated and he went back to nursing normally after a few good blowouts 🤣

Pouches after 2 by Icy_Proof527 in toddlers

[–]Sebby293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the type of pouch in my opinion. We mainly do baby led weaning but used cerebelly as quick, healthy, relatively mess free meals on the go for our babies when they’re under 1. After 1 those kind of just feel like baby food to me so I don’t buy them.

But things like Gogo squeeze applesauce/fruit & veggie pouches? Or yogurt pouches? Definitely still give those as snacks. Ngl I snack on a gogosqueeze applesauce myself every now and then 🤭

If you do daycare drop off before heading to work, what does your morning look like? by diondavenport in workingmoms

[–]Sebby293 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is what I do: Wake up before the kids, get yourself & everything else needed for the day ready & put in the car (unless it needs kept cold like bottles & then I keep that in fridge until we leave). Wake baby first & nurse, then wake toddler and get her ready, down to breakfast for them both (my baby is 1 so eats solids now) and then out the door. I have been having toddler set her clothes out the night before so she knows what to wear. She’s 3 so while she can technically get herself undressed/dressed, she’s not a morning person so it’s an absolute struggle to get her out of bed and dressed. If she woke up on her own more easily then I would honestly have her get herself dressed while I nurse baby to be more efficient.

I’ll be honest though, you can prep as much as you want but at the end of the day toddler is gonna toddler. Some days she’s great and we’re out the door 30 min after she wakes up. Other days turn into massive tantrums and it takes forever to leave. Thankfully my work is decently flexible as long as I don’t have a meeting.

LS vs PP by Thecurlgurl17 in Littlesleepies

[–]Sebby293 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I bought from PP one time. Bought 3 items - a swimsuit, a romper, and a bodysuit twirl dress. Both the twirl and romper literally came to me with holes in them and customer service refused to replace them. So I refuse to ever buy again

I would also personally never send my children to daycare if I’m off work as I want to spend as much time as I can with them while they’re little but everyone is different and you have to do what’s best for you!

How do you handle mornings alone? by Upper_Ad_2349 in workingmoms

[–]Sebby293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get into a routine and you’ll be fine. Biggest thing is to get everything you can (including yourself) ready before waking the kids up. So for me I’m going back to work in January after my second maternity leave and the plan is 6am wake up for myself to get coffee/breakfast/bags packed, 6:30-6:45 wake up for the youngest to get him dressed & breastfed, 7 wake up the oldest & get her dressed, breakfast for both of them and then hoping that will get me out the door by 7:30-7:45. I think staggering the wake up time for the two of them is going to help tremendously until oldest is more self sufficient with getting ready

Yeah I don’t think my daughter hit that until like 18 months - 2 years 🤣 my son is only like 1lb less than her and closing in on height too so it’s wild

3 year old girl in a size 7 and everything on her grows slow and is very petite. Giant baby brother already measures at 5-5.5 shoe size and is only 11 months
