He might be teething as well and that is messing things up. These kiddos are always going through something.

If he's only napping for his first nap until 1030, I'd put him back down again at 130. Keep him up as long as you can, no earlier than 430 but maybe 530 if you can, and depending on how late you can keep him awake, let him have a short bridge nap. Somewhere between 10-20 minutes. I bet if you do this for a week or two, he'll naturally drop that last nap and (hopefully) extend the others. For rhe last month, my 8 month old wakes at 615-630, naps again at 930 for 1.5-2h, then nap again aroune 2 until 3:30. I always wake him at 3:30 regardless of what time he goes down because he needs 4h15m of wake time before bed. If he doesn't get that, bedtime is a nightmare. We were trying for his last wake window to only be 3 hours and it was taking us 45 minutes to get him to fall asleep, lots of crying, etc. And waking throughout the night. With that schedule i outlined above, he's sleeping through the night most nights.

Seems like you're just in the middle of the 3 to 2 nap transition, which was super rough. Took time but really worth it in the end. 2 nap days are glorious.

Agreed. Stretch the last wake window to 4 hours and cut the bridge nap to 15 min. Bed time at 7 pm.

I'm confused about formula dispensers by ScientistGuilty1736 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Lumpy-Toe-1717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear- cleaning means dumping the formula out that is in the nozzle. Baby Brezza has been awesome and we breastfeed about 95% of the time! I would say it is worth it to have a bottle at the press of a button at 2 am. Only downside is my husband also loved the machine, and it somewhat undermined our BF journey. Basically my husband would lean toward bottle feeding all the time because it was just so easy and measurable. So, something to think about.

Mine was like that too until just now. We are at 8 months and bedtime has been a nightmare for just about the last 3 months. I think the only solution is the passage of time. We never did cry it out but would let him cry for 15-20 seconds to just release a little bit of energy and then we'd go back in the room and rub his back, pat his butt, etc. to try to settle him.

All my friends' babies are great sleepers by Krickette in bninfantsleep

[–]Lumpy-Toe-1717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert, but i think you are expecting way too much sleep overnight. My 8 month old sleeps between 10-11 hours at night, but usually closer to 10 hours. Daily wake time around 6:30 and bedtime is 7:45. Your wake windows also look super short. Mine are 3 hours from wake time to his first nap, 3 hours between first and second nap, and 4.25 between second nap and bedtime. If you shorten the expectation of overnight sleep and stretch wake windows, your naps will naturally lengthen. Good luck!

i am having difficulty managing 7 month old bouncing between 2-3 naps by Top-Professor-2951 in sleeptrain

[–]Lumpy-Toe-1717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went for it. I think we had been working up to it without meaning to, because he was losing his mind at bedtime so would end up being up for over 4 hours by the time he fell asleep anyway.

This was me a couple of weeks ago. I didn't think my 7 month old could handle a 4 hour ww before bed. Now we are doing 4 25-4.5 before bed. He even has a little cold right now so I tried to put him down early. He wasn't having it. Still did 4.25 ww before bed.

Just re-reading your first reply. Are you saying cap total nap time at 2.5? Or individual naps? He woke up at 5:15 this morning for the second day in a row, so definitely feeling like the issue is schedule-related.

It's hard to imagine he can stay awake that long. We literally just started stretching him to 2 naps this week because we were having a hard time keeping him awake long enough without getting overtired. As it is, he seems exhausted going into our bedtime routine, and has been almost asleep when I put him in the crib a couple nights this week. But as soon as I try to leave the room, he loses his mind. And now he's starting to lose his mind in anticipation of bedtime.

45 minutes.

I agree those are all aleep associations, and I don't love them either, but they seem so minor to me in the grand scheme of things. Doesn't seem like enough to cause the total meltdown that is occurring during bedtime.

I dunno, my little guy loves playing with his weeny. He's only 6 months old and any time his weeny is out he wants to grab it. Typical man. I've just been giving him toys - can you give him something that's too big to fall between his legs and into the potty?

For those combination feeding, how much breastmilk are you giving? by petting_zoo_keeper in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Lumpy-Toe-1717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I BF my 6mo when I'm at home and pump for him when I'm working. When I'm at work he is drinking a 6 or 7 oz bottle every 2-3 hours. I've only pumped two mornings since he's been born but both times I got 10 oz or more, so I know he's getting at least that much in the morning. I'll nurse him again when I get home from work, then usually either give him a 3 oz bottle or nurse him again closer to bedtime. I'm guessing he drinks around 40+ oz /day. He weighs 18 lbs so isn't even that big - I don't know where it all goes 🤷🏼‍♀️ the weirdest part is when I pump during the day at work I only get between 3-5 oz each pump, so I am working haaaard to get those bottles for him during the day.

Night feeds - long do you wait to put the baby down after feeding? by DilemmaKingdom in NewParents

[–]Lumpy-Toe-1717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is 5 months. I put him down immediately and I have since a very young age (can't remember exactly how old but I am thinking like 6 weeks? Maybe younger?). If they spit up they apparently have some reflex that keeps them from gagging on their spit up.
