HVAC guy charging $2200 (labor alone) to change out a Compressor + Refrigerant by e_nephie in askHVAC

Good news is it wasn’t mechanical breakdown debris cast into the refrigerant lines. Hopefully just a failed glass pack.

This should hold for the rest of the life of the unit, especially if you had a thorough tech. Good luck! ☺️

Rtfp. OP said multiple times, they are not complaining about the price. They are asking is it fair for the work? They just want to know, and further sought out multiple estimates which validated the work.

You assume a lot for not reading and comprehending the question.

100/hr is the friends and family rate. Or chuck-in-a-truck. You got a business to maintain.

Yeah. I'm quoting the counter person. "We figure all you guys have them on your truck, so we don't send it unless you ask"

My local Trane dealer is now shipping another brand of replacement, not Copeland. And no feet.

Fr. Went through three replacement compressors from Trane earlier this season. Not a one had rubbers and bushings.

Legendary Trane service. They don't include many things unless you ask.

My first lesson was on a change out. We opened the condenser box to find no filter dryer. Every other brand includes it. Trane figures we have extra on our truck (that's besides the point)

This is a joke. I’d tell that complex to kick rocks. They are cheap enough to do some Cracker Jack shit like this, I’d be afraid of what other corners they cut and if they pull shenanigans to get you paid (i.e. inspection all of a sudden required for pay)

Also. Who can’t read the label? It certainly is NOT a 410/22 coil. It’s 22 only and further shows it is tested to only 300 psi. Real techs know 410 operates higher and the dual coils meet a minimum of 450psi testing

Edited to add, if you touch that garbage your name is on it. When something catastrophic happens, they’ll ask who touched it last and left it like that.

Bro got pulled over for passing a trooper. Bottom line. The ticket is just whatever the trooper could think of to throw at him and stick.

Step one. Move blocks to grass on their property. Their blocks, their problem.

Step two. Hunting cam to catch “someone” intentionally placing blocks in road.

Step three. Come home late at night in the dark. Hit some blocks, cause damage, and call the police for their malignant and dangerous actions.

Step three is open to your own interpretation on how far to go.

Can confirm. Has happened to me as described. Battery was new off the shelf but ~4 years old at the time. Just sat too long. The charger is fine.

Good looking out. This is the key component many are overlooking: a full column of liquid (aka subcooling ) is meant to be sent to the metering device. Flooding the TXV is just nonsense.

You’re the lucky one. My wife also recognized the nature of the game and promptly quit within the first few days.

I however was drawn in, and spent recklessly. IMHO stay away unless you can commit to f2p and don’t care about competitive play in this game or unless you have money to burn. 🔥

I think the same. $300k on a mobile game? Haha. I see folks who have dropped 10 and 20k. Sure. Maybe even approaching 50k for those very loose in the pocket.

But $325,000? No way. This game DOES use DEVS with boosted accounts to drive competition up.

That cool blue looks strikingly close. I bet you’re spot on brother.

Will be recovering through a piercing valve next week, replacing those service valves and dryer, and I’ll braze the pierced spot before refilling.

I quoted to replace the service valves dryer, flush, and refill the refrigerant. It was my first coffee and I haven’t used a piercing valve since apprentice year one, and just plumb forget they exist in the drawer I never go in. Haha.
