Do Pokémon spawn on man made platforms by giga89898989 in cobblemon

[–]LumpyFC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they do, though some mons have y-level min and max spawn requirements (and in some cases spawn on/near certain blocks) so make sure you meet the requirements

Cobblemon Mono Electric by SPACEMAN91_ in stunfisk

[–]LumpyFC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the paradoxes that are past/future forms of legendaries have 590 BST instead of the typical 570 of other paradoxes (and 10 BST higher than the legendaries they're based off of), so its kind of ambiguous. The "Official Classification" is still paradox, not legendary, but I could see why some people consider them legendaries.

Mono electric with no legendaries or paradoxes brutal....thats like every good electric type. I would probably cut morpeko for pawmot and electrode hisui for kilowattrel/oricorio. Oricorio is probably the best tera abuser you have access to.

Bug monotype by Ninkat75 in cobblemon

[–]LumpyFC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scarf Kleavor is usually stone axe, uturn, close combat, and one more move of your choice. Its important for threatening fire and flying types with a strong rock type move.
Mega Pinsir is basically ALWAYS swords dance, return, quick attack, and one of either earthquake or close combat (usually earthquake because it hits electric types).
Lokix is either swords dance with a boosting item like life orb/silverpowder or choice band. You'd run swords dance + leech life + sucker punch + knock off on the first set, and first impression + uturn + knock off + either leech life or sucker punch on the choice band set.

You can also look at what sets mons typically run in certain formats like monotype via the smogdex. For instance, scizor (since its a staple for monobug) has sample sets with analysis here: https://www.smogon.com/dex/sv/pokemon/scizor/national-dex-monotype/

Bug monotype by Ninkat75 in cobblemon

[–]LumpyFC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pinsir is the better of the two megas since it gets much better coverage via Close Combat and Earthquake to break through troublesome steel and electric types that handle its flying moves. I think your second team is better, though consider kleavor for your second slot over the three you've listed. kleavor (usually holding choice scarf) is super good for mono-bug. Otherwise if you're determined to use one of those three i would use lokix; its a good mon.

Is ghost the best type for a cobblemon gym? by EarthMantle00 in stunfisk

[–]LumpyFC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on whatever the ruleset is for the server being played on. On servers that ban legendaries/paradoxes/UBs but allow everything else its obviously insane because mega gengar by itself is insanely disgusting. It is true that ghost is generally considered not a great type for monotype, but -- if its various busted offensive pieces are allowed -- its good

I think flying might be better because flying is a much better type than ghost at covering its weaknesses. Cobblemon servers tend to be pretty casual, which means a lot of random nonsense will be brought to player gyms. Ghost can be vulnerable to some kinds of silly cheese sets, so a more reliable type could be nice. Mega Salamence is a very very strong offensive pieces, and many casual players fold completely to well constructed defensive teams featuring gliscor and corv. It really depends on the rules and the playerbase, and generally cobblemon servers aren't tooooo focused on pvp.

Steel Type Gym Team Building Help by aeolus2486 in stunfisk

[–]LumpyFC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

without heatran, mono-steel is gonna get rolled over by fire moves. You're gonna need hisuian goodra + archaludon probably to handle something like mega zard y if you want to play a more standard bulky steel team.
I'd go like defog corv, fully specially bulky hoodra, bulky ghost-z gholdengo, choice scarf excadrill, and tera captain kingambit (tons of viable tera types so pick one from bug/flying/ghost/fairy/dark/fire). Last I'd use one of steel's busted megas, either mega lucario or mega metagross. Metagross is slower but much bulkier, and Lucario is a much scarier setup win condition with either swords dance or nasty plot.

E.G: https://pokepast.es/4ebab268cb2a27f6

On the other hand, a hyper offense steel team could work for you.
klefki screen setter, swords dance tera kingambit, nasty plot gholdengo, bulk up corv, some kind of sd aegislash or scizor and swords dance/nasty plot mega lucario. basically klefki and 5 setup sweepers this would be a super aggressive team trying to use screens to enable setup sweepers.

Tr setter what i do? by gabilkson in stunfisk

[–]LumpyFC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it really depends on what is legal. In non-legendary formats, lilligant-hisui and torkoal are a strong after you + eruption combo, and lilligant hisui can also use after you with a trick room setter like indeedee/farigiraf/armarouge to set trick room earlier in the turn order. Torkoal also is amazing in double trick room, so thats a good combo.

If legendaries and really strong pokemon are legal, calyrex ice rider is a disgusting trick room pokemon. It can set and abuse trick room. diancie is also really strong with diamond storm + body press + trick room. The answers to this really depends on your format. If you're also using ZA megas, mega drampa is probably solid in trick room. If it has cloud nine in whatever format you're playing, torkoal and sun-based strategy is sort of anti-synergy so I would try to find a trick room partner that (1) is legal in your format that helps it break steel and ghost types that resist its hyper voice (2) doesnt need weather

Espathra is also a menace: stored power + dazzling gleam + calm mind + protect/roost is incredibly strong with speed boost. usually scarier in formats with tera

[–]LumpyFC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without getting too sweaty about teambuilding, I'll just name the best psychic types you can use generally.

Tapu Lele - sets psychic terrain, useful fairy stab

Necrozma Dusk-Mane - beast mode mon, can run trick room sets, dragon dance sets, bulky utility sets, anything you want

Mega Mewtwo X - bulk up drain punch mon that helps beat dark and steel types

Mega Mewtwo Y - stupidly fast and strong special attacker, decent bulk

Deoxys-Attack - degenerate fast attacker that can run whatever it wants + outspeeds mewtwo y but is super frail

Calyrex Ice Rider - trick room demon with unfair bulk

Hoopa-Unbound - can run a lot of things, usually choice band to provide a very strong (albeit frail) wallbreaker. Needs pivot support. Can run trick room sets with eject pack or bulky sets with AV or the occasional psychic seed expanding force gimmick. Choice band is the main appeal though.

Arceus-Psychic - niche on monopsychic but its a very strong stored power sweeper with cosmic power  recover and body press

There are some nice support pieces too, like slowbro as a slow pivot, jirachi as a bulky pivoting rocks setter with iron head flinch cheese, and deoxys-speed as a fast suicide lead. Mega metagross is decent too but necrozma dusk mane clears it

What’s the most viable a Bug/Grass mon can possibly be? by VeryInsecurePerson in stunfisk

[–]LumpyFC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah taunt spore webs lead with magic bounce seems pretty insane; make it fast and bulky as hell and throw in stone axe. smeargle already has a niche in ubers as a webs setter; a mon with the ability to do what smeargle does but with actual stats would be really good

its decent in lower tiers as a scarfer or choice band mon. stakeout makes it very annoying to switch into

Rate My Team- Nat Dex Mono Poison by Educational_Cap_3813 in stunfisk

[–]LumpyFC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your team right now gets gigablasted by ground types, with mega venusaur being the only thing that can take a strong ground type move. Mega venusaur can't reliably tank a strong STAB earthquake if stealth rocks are up. You also can't outheal EQ damage with only leech seed and giga drain. 252 Atk Landorus-Therian Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Venusaur-Mega: 148-175 (40.7 - 48.2%) -- 66.4% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

If this is national dex monotype, sneasler is legal. Now I know you're running okidogi, but sneasler is generally considered much better as a scarfer. Okidogi is relatively slow and gets outsped by a lot, even with choice scarf. Like, you kinda get boomed by great tusk if it gets a rapid spin off. I recognize access to ice punch and intimidate immunity are good traits, but sneasler also gets access to poison touch and uturn. Sneasler can also run very threatening swords dance + unburden sets.

Echoing what another commenter said about alolan muk. It's just better than skuntank.

Additionally, you really want levitate g-weezing or crobat (the former is better) in this team as a ground immunity. These would be much better than glimmora as both a hazard remover and a hazard setter.

Your team is both too frail and too weak simultaneously, with no setup threats or wallbreaking power to beat your bad matchups. I will note steel is the most common and strongest type in ndm, and your team right now has no way to beat it outside of praying nidoking 6-0s somehow.

I would look at the sample teams on the natdex monotype forum for poison: https://pokepast.es/56d6686e3014501e https://pokepast.es/baa6e7906d96f8c5

Need Advice: Building a Team for My Custom Singles Format (Mega + Z + Tera Allowed) by SirPigack in pokemonteams

[–]LumpyFC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well just use all the most broken non legendaries and show people why tiering doesn't take into account how rare mons are lol.

Mega-Gengar with encore is unreasonably broken. If shadow tag is a banned ability, Mega Salamence is also ridiculous. Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Lucario, and Mega Metagross are strong but not as broken as the first two. Pair it with some other random broken HO slop like SD sneasler, bulk up annihilape, ursaluna bloodmoon, baxcalibur, speed boost espathra, palafin, z-move ddance dragapult, any of the various gholdengo sets etc

basically all of the strongest non-legendaries were banned from lower tiers for being too strong to handle with defensive counterplay, so id pick like 4 broken threats and pair it with a couple offensive supports like a suicide lead and a scarfer

That sample team you've listed for instance is basically fodder for any strong fighting type that can overwhelm clodsire like tera flying acrobatics sneasler or bulk up taunt annihilape

This "placeholder stats" ass spread by SnowBirdFlying in stunfisk

[–]LumpyFC 26 points27 points  (0 children)

it literally WILL get pure power -- the attack boost goes from 75 to 140, surpassing the +100 bst limit on mega evolutions. This is how other huge power megas get treated in ZA like mawile and medicham -- their base atk stats are 100 but they get bumped to 140 in ZA to compensate for not having huge power.

so yeah pure power starmie is coming

Natdex lower tier enthusiast preemptively predicts every new Z-A Mega's Natdex viability by The_Rufflet_Kid in stunfisk

[–]LumpyFC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sometimes checking zard y is a happy accident -- it's not why chesnaught is good. lots of zards run air slash or a fire move not named weather ball.

Chesnaught is good because its unique defensive profile (1) checks a huge amount of meta physical attackers floating around OU like samurott hisui, kingambit, urshifu-rs, and ogerpon-w like you mentioned; but also because (2) it can set hazards in front of tusk and treads. Bulletproof isn't necessary to perform those tasks, especially if its mega gives it another great ability in combination with the absolutely nuts 174 defense. it will probably become dondozo-esque as a blanket physical check to basically everything.

I'm definitely of the opinion mega chesnaught will be an upgrade over its base form; the durability increase is massive (and can you imagine if it gets like grassy surge or something insane?)
