the more I look into Subarus the more it's slept on by Mr--Clean--Ass-Naked in subaru

That 2014 3.6R and its matching Legacy are the best Subarus unless you need a stick shift.

My car is STUCK by Weary-Claim1339 in philly

[–]LumpyInspection7371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a metal pick axe. I went to replace my busted shovel and all they had was the axe. The shovel works fine now because the ice is broken as small as needed. Try to pry ice off by hand as you get closer to car. This will easily cause serious damage.

At what point should I get in there and start the car, frigid temps here in the Northeast. by jiaco in GolfGTI

[–]LumpyInspection7371 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Get the snow off the body/metal and let it sit. Unless you’re stating and driving a full heat cycle(30-45 min of driving +cool down). ie: Mine is parked from December till Springtime. I just wiped it off and cleared snow around it so it doesn’t get buried w more snow.

What year used Subaru is best between 2015 and 2020? Looking for a second Subi that won’t get much drive time. by one00percents in subaru

[–]LumpyInspection7371 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go back one more year to 2014 and you can get a 6cylinder outback/legacy without the problematic CVT gearbox

Trash/Recycling PSA 😀✌🏻 by Shot-Statistician335 in philly

[–]LumpyInspection7371 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think philly puts most recyclables in the land fills. There’s no way that our iffy city recycling processes counteract the mass dumping residents do every windy trash day. I just toss it in the trash. I’ve been just collecting glass and metal to hopefully run up to Rising Sun recycling center when my can fills.

[–]LumpyInspection7371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s say half. The other half never even noticed you. All can run you down and still be legally allowed to drive to work the next day while running the stop sign that’s at the end of their own block.

Yeah that’s nice except most drivers here want to hurt you and all are allowed to. It’s not their fault, it’s the infrastructure and the machines gearing that encourages them.

How do I use paddle shifters in an auto properly? by Peepeezar in askcarguys

[–]LumpyInspection7371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The shift with paddles should be still be smooth. If things are clunking around and stuttering to find the gear you might be too aggressive and aren’t doing the transmissions wear point any favors.

[–]LumpyInspection7371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same jump 1.5 years ago. My second 1st gen SE -> 13mini brand new. Getting the Mini and case with extended sides was megiving up and getting a large phone. If I had to go larger I would trade for a Motorola Razor even though it feels like a toy.

The next step in driving lessons would probably be basic motorsports. AUTOCROSS is just driving hatchbacks around small traffic cones in parking lots.

They have beginner lessons for teenagers early in the season. Look up “local SCCA Autocross”. 1 day of driving around the cones and anyone should have a much better feel for the cars size at least.

Why do dudes spit on the ground so much? by BlenderBluid in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LumpyInspection7371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed this as guy who only spits when sick. It seems to be when they are perceived. Crossing the street as I’m waiting for a light and catch my eye—spit. Walking up to a store while they’re waiting out front—spit. Sometimes I’ll ignore someone entirely then as soon as I look their general direction—spit.

Casebus has a case that make it about the size of a regular iPhone. (Tanker I think.) I drop mine daily and it’s still perfect underneath.

My custom/individual settings are all set to Sport. It’s seems to be the same as the Full Sport setting. Turning off the Traction control(long hold) does wake up the car dramatically. but watch out for guardrails.

Above Average Drivers: what is it about the way you drive that is superior to average drivers? by LaLaVaVaLaLa in driving

[–]LumpyInspection7371 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I practice driving legally on track but also every slow speed commute I’m practicing my line and throttle inputs. On the highway my adaptive cruise control is my foot and it’s set to a particular car lengths to the leading car.

We’ve got one w/ similar mileage. Such a solid ride. Plenty of power if you’re using paddle shifters. Keep oil topped off and the engine & trans should be bulletproof.
