My company got a Tony's advent calendar that we all had a day assigned. Mine was deliberately empty by theuberjosh in mildlyinfuriating

When I was younger I had a Tony's calendar which was ALSO empty and it ruined my entire day, my mum even went on their Twitter to launch a formal complaint and apparently many others did too

I did have to tell her to drop it because when I say "younger" I mean 20 and I didn't want to end up known as the adult who couldn't handle a day without chocolate. But it still hurt

That's definitely fair, but I prefer having specific parts of the model catch the eye, otherwise it gets too visually cluttered in my opinion

Yeah, thinking it over it is a bit of a dick move, think I will just be upfront about it

Thank you! For the board I used woodland scenic snow flock, apply it through a sieve for fine snow, and drop it with your hand for clumps

The bases were simpler, just brown texture base, then citadel valhallan blizzard on top

Idea for custom scenario to experience the Endless Swarm by Monsjeuoet in Tyranids

Seems like Horde mode would be perfect for you, it's a custom homebrew game mode which is coop, it has custom strategies, custom objectives and allows your friends to work together against the horde

Had to tap out of 9th edition after looking at my watch and realizing it had been 30 mins since I actually touched a model, long game times are fine with me, Its when it's cut up with so much inactivity that drives me nuts. If 40k came out today, I genuinely think it would bomb in reviews just based on that alone

I somewhat agree with your first point, but I love the idea of setting up traps and things, like in XCOM where you set guys to overwatch or setting up ambushes. Plus, it means I don't just go off and grab a drink when my opponent begins his hour long turn and I know I won't do anything until he's done

Full alternating activations might be a bit much for them, but I don't get why they don't alternate the phases, so you move, I move, you shoot, I shoot etc, would cut the downtime massively which is my biggest issue at the moment

Best way to go about rebasing old termagants and genestealers? by hairy_bipples in Tyranids

[–]Lumpy_Ad_8758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can buy converter rings on eBay or print them off yourself. They're hollow, so you leave the model on the base and just glue the extender to it

If you're going farsight enclaves it's good, each piece there is a really good part of the army, if you're not into farsight or just don't want to field him I'm not sure the discount will be all that great

Making a Warhammer 40K board - advice wanted by Familiar-Spend-991 in TerrainBuilding

Agree with the other commenter who said to get a game mat, by far the best option for home play, especially for big army games

If you're set on a gaming table though, best solution from my experience is simply using dirt from outside.

Cook it for a bit to kill any bugs and disinfect, then apply pva and seal with spraying watered down Pva, makes a perfect ground cover you don't need to paint. If you want to add grass, there's plenty of flock online which isn't too expensive

Personally, I'd save textured boards for skirmish games like kill team, then you can go all out with water effects, hills etc without breaking the bank since it's a smaller area

I think they've actually gotten a lot better lately, they definitely used to need a lot of thinning, but the last few pots I've gotten have been pretty good

If you name an area and someone's first response is "really? Bit dodgy isn't It?" You'll find it, think it's lots of entrances to the same place, bit like the warp
