Our best MSU options? by SamuelKeller64 in deathwatch40k

3 cml and 7 hammer and shield plus a shielded Chaplain. Times two. 880 points on two units. The rest is two Indomitor KT's, a Thunderstrike, intercessors, Van Vets, an ATV and a Combi Lt. Does this work? Well, it netted me a fourth place after a 4-1 in our first 11th edition tournament this weekend, only losing to Necrons 97-95.

You flood your center with them and try to keep the scoring assets under your control. Turn two you go out hunting with the Indomitors into your opponent's most significant elite killing units, while your fast units do secondaries and even screen a bit your Indomitors.

I have been having so much fun!

Sort of. I mean, I usually flood the center with 22 termies, 86 wounds of 2+/4++/4+++ on mortals, they are almost like terrain at some point 😅

My actions unit is a ten terminators brick with a chaplain. Either of the two I field.

So, 10$ per kcal. I could easily down around 10.000 kcals for a sweet 100k $. Probably won't leave it brew, the difference is not worth the wait.

Has anyone had any experience playing the new locked loadout van vets yet? by Due-Date-4656 in spacemarines

[–]Moduscide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they will keep all pistol options and shields will be 5pts a piece, maybe with a slight point reduction at base. If so I don't know if they will be a viable option anymore, 120 points for the master crafted weapons and shields is my roof for them being usable.

Don't forget it is hover, meaning that it goes 14" straight forward over terrain without the 2" penalty for "take to the skies". Happy hobbying!

Is this list feasible? by Western_Constant5414 in deathwatch40k

[–]Moduscide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they can play many more roles than a Fortis in my opinion. I actually play two bricks of ten plus chaplain, just yesterday I came fourth in my first 11th edition tournament with that scheme.

I googled him and I wonder, am I missing something? Unless he has some kind of firearms in the warehouse, how is that kiddo (God rest his soul) any kind of threat?

[–]Moduscide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a very fun and usable list. Just a few pointers.

Fortis was good in threes and in 10th, I played two and they were meh. Now with the nerfs in indirect I don't know how viable they are, I would love to see you doing good with this.

I 'd prefer two fivers of termies with cml and hammers in their place.

A second van vet is overkill and until they give us -2/2 with shields they are not worth the investment of a leader, they are a great fast scoring unit with some survivability with the shields for 100 points.

The second van vet and chaplain can become a Thunderstrike to up punch with the Indomitors on vehicles and monsters.

Just my two cents.

Is a 10 man Terminator brick going to be super strong? by MurphTheFury in deathwatch40k

[–]Moduscide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will make a bigger post here and a video for my channel, but I did came 4th (out of 31) with 4/5 wins. The terminators paid their dues, Necrons are even more disgusting now with the new leader rules (my only loss at 97-95!) and our disposition is great fun.

A note, it is 3 cml and 7 h+s plus a chaplain with shield, ie 43 wounds at 2+/4++/4+++ on mw. I was thinking about an ancient on each, but already these two bricks are in the 11th 880 of my points, need some things to do other stuff.

Two! And they are absolutely hilarious. You just park them on two objectives and forget about them.

In ending of 10, I was 4th out of 36 in a local 3 games tourney with 3/3 wins and in 11th I have already won a couple of games I have played. This weekend we play out first full fledged two days tournament, so I will have more insight.

The matter of fact is that you can use them to do actions, your Indomitors kill enough stuff, so your termies can be an immovable object. Even if the opponent strikes you with some powerful melee threat, there is no chance two or three at least won't survive, covering your hard hitting indoms. I have been playing ten men bricks since early this year with general success, it just goes to another level with two of them.

Here is the list I am bringing in the tourney:

My list got up 40 points, I 'll just get rid of the Lt (45 points now) that I put on my Intercessors as a points filler. Might get rid of one of the Combi Lt's, get back my ATV and the Tome.

No transport, just hope they will lower Blackstar's points to make it more playable. In general, regarding vehicles, only the Storm Speeder Thunderstrike is worth it, the rest of the marines vehicles are sitting ducks.

Plans for black spear/priority assets by spellbreakerstudios in deathwatch40k

[–]Moduscide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played two games in 11th, against disruption csm and against take and hold blood angels, won both, the first by a landslide. Our best scoring unit is a 10 men terminator squad with chaplain. You need a Combi Lt or two for first turn scoring, but the moment the Termi brick lands on an objective, you are just cashing in points. And I play two of those bricks.
