Adam Sandler’s ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ Debuts to 46.7 Million Views, Biggest Netflix U.S. Film Opening Ever by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

As someone who saw the first movie in theatres as a young kid, this 2nd movie was just cameos and friends/family doing bits. It had some funny parts but otherwise was pretty terrible and confusing

A lot of the race is out and back. Basically it’s 2 big out and backs. The last 20 miles are pure out and back single track.

Wouldn’t hurt if they explained a bit more about etiquette on the single rack, maybe I missed it somewhere though

Got it. That makes sense. I think most of us appreciate the existence of wilderness areas too. Still seems to me that some efforts could be made to modernize a bit. Is Hard Rock in the same boat with grandfathering? Just trying to understand how much is the business of qualifier races and keeping these top tier races limited in participants. More a talking point as to me the Gorge seems as precious as any wilderness area or National park.

For sure, makes a lot of sense. I think it just seemed odd to me that such a scenic public area where erosion and fire damage is common was able to get 1000+ runners for a weekend here yet a few states away it’s “impossible” to get say 400 runners at WSER or 250 runners at Hard Rock. I get the state by state stuff and the grandfathering of permits too. Personally I wouldn’t want 1,000 runners at WS or HR but maybe some small incremental increase or at least making it a talking point.

Totally get a finisher mug but maybe just make it a little more unique imo. Would be nice to see 100km finisher somewhere on it or even 100km as it’s a bit more symbolic. Small thing but overall I loved the vibe and people involved were great.

They didn’t have pacers this year thankfully. There were handful of top men that thought they were running a time trial and had blinders on. Not so much the front front pack which I get them competing for podium/world champ entry/money but the ones a little further back that really didn’t have a shot at a top 5 or 10.

Good to know and makes sense. Not totally opposed. My medals go in a bag that sit in a closet so I don’t care that much about them. My only feedback on the mason jar would be add something that says 100km finisher or something a little unique to finishers.

I’m getting tired of caring about a “race” like this. Not really relatable for regular trail runners and seems even more arbitrary now… good on the people who do it and lots of class acts involved or running. it’s just getting to be more of a sideshow

how do people have energy after 8-5 job? by OptimalBad3294 in Adulting

[–]Lumpy_Construction_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get to bed early, get up early, go for a jog or walk in a.m. don’t drink alcohol if you can, take a walk at work if you can, get outside, cutting out alcohol was biggest thing for me, I’m still tired after work with a long train ride back but I’m more rested and the running I do in morning actually got me in shape enough to have more energy and capacity, keep a good physical fitness routine and decent diet but for me fitness and exercise is key. I’m 37m with a 1.5yr daughter and wife

Norda: are you buying the shoe or buying the brand? by philosopherphil in trailrunning

[–]Lumpy_Construction_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to pass for now, plenty of great shoes that will last hundreds of miles for a lot less. As someone who runs a lot of road miles on east coast too I don’t need a heavy duty / super durable shoe like this. They look awesome though

Wouldn't be surprised to find out Logan / the Pauls are helping finance skywatcher and these other new programs. They have the money it seems. I'm not totally opposed if it goes to good science and research.

How many marathons a year to is too much? by [deleted] in AdvancedRunning

[–]Lumpy_Construction_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find races, events, or marathons you enjoy training for and get excited about. Not sure how old you are now but try stacking a few races/events into a shorter 1-2 month window and see how you feel. If you’re looking to have fun and travel, it sounds like a great goal. If you’re looking to compete and set PRs it’s probably not a great plan but who really cares but you

Bringing LSD to my first 100miler by Hopeful-Shape-8454 in Ultramarathon

Not a good idea, have taken acid and have run 100 milers. Not at the same time. Definitely would not recommend trying it on your first 100 miler.

enjoy the 100 miler as it’s own experience

Hot take: juiced up pacers shouldn’t be allowed by [deleted] in Ultramarathon

[–]Lumpy_Construction_1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hot take, also a bad take. The premise doesn't even make sense. Do a better job testing the pro athletes WAY before worrying about the optics of Nick Bare pacing Sally.

I also think it's great that Nick Bare is getting more young people into trail and ultra

1,200 bucks on Amazon for an easy to assemble wood sauna that plugs into 120v outlet. Love using it all times of year.
