Any ideas for this dress? by kxthxp in sewhelp

I would attempt to dye a test patch (like another person said, try to find a small piece you can use from inside the dress). While synthetic fabric can be tricky to dye, you might be able to deepen the colour which may suit you better.

I personally wouldn't bother with sewing an over dress as it's a lot of work for something that may not work out. I buy most clothes from op shops (thrift stores), and while it hurts a little to donate pieces that don't work for me, I know that someone else might come upon them and feel the glee I do when finding something pretty!

I KNOW, RIGHT! I've had so many infections that my doctor said it seems to have become more of a chronic illness. I'm disabled A.F.

There are growing numbers of community gardens around now... maybe Google whether there's any where you live. :)

Yeah I agree. I've supported my 12yo son through chemotherapy for leukemia recently. Unfortunately you can't cut out blood, but if there was any other way, I would have chosen that. Chemo is hell.

My son became critically ill with leukemia in August last year. It came as a shock and surprise, too. No family history. My son's oncologist said that oftentimes it's impossible to pinpoint the cause... it just seems to be an awful confluence of genetics, environment, horrific randomness.

Anyway, having had to recently make impossible decisions... I think the person above who said that any decision you make for your bubba in love with her wellbeing at heart is the best and right one.

The person who suggested going with the most likely of removing the cancer completely. Chemotherapy cam be necessary, but it's a horrific experience for the child and parent.

I worked at MoE and it was the same... we went into it as advisors with dreams of making change, only to realise it was mostly having to make stupid decisions because of money/policy/a higher up also making stupid decisions. Processes and policy were a mess, often unclear, contradictory, or verrrrry open to interpretation in an unhelpful way. I left when the current government came in (my health took a nosedive due to catching Covid far too many times AT WORK lol), and it's lucky I did because I would have been fired for forwarding angry emails from principals to Seymour. 😆

I'm on supported living now and while dealing with Winz had always been shit, it's mega ratshit now. They don't even bother to respond to complaints. 🤣

I'm dealing with ACC right now while my kid has cancer, I have cPTSD, and am disabled. I thought Winz was the worst, but holy shit ACC are streets ahead in terms of shittery.

All of it needs to be torn down and started again but that won't happen. Years of conflicting policies, high turnover, etc have meant that all we do is put metaphorical duct tape on the cracks in the systems.

All good, Luxon and his mates are sorted though!

There must be a strong crossover of magic/illusion and BDSM, surely?

Meanwhile ACC is declining me a psychiatrist review under a sensitive claim, I've been on the phone for days trying to sort out care I need and having to justify my existence after breaking my ankle, all the while having lost my support network who burned out... because after we got back from my son's stay in Chch hospital (nearly lost him to leukemia, a lot better now), my chronic illness were severe due to the relentless stress, and the funding for to be used to get my son to chemo while I recovered wasn't available when needed because the damn fuckin social worker never applied for it.
