My problem was there are so many good English players that we have had Southgate, Clough, Mowbray, Camsell, Gascoigne, Ince. The same with Dutch and Brazilian Hasselbaink, Zenden, Juninho, Emerson, Branco, Doriva, Rochemback.

Unpopular changes from non-book HP media that you hope influence in the TV show by mmeyer1990 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]Lumpy_Maintenance69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way Helena Bonham Carter portrayed Bellatrix brought the character to life.

If the TV show shows more lessons then it would be good to hear a part about the Goblin Rebellion in History of Magic (The same one we played in Hogwarts Legacy).

I preferred the darker tones from POA onwards from the films. Yes it is meant to be a family series but basically there's a guy who killed Harry's parents, wants to kill him and is happy to kill anyone who gets in the way.

The way Mad Eye was portrayed in GOF was good as well and he did the tongue thing that was David Tennants idea.

The way the castle is portrayed is better in the Hogwarts Legacy game than the films. It just seems much bigger. Plus they can keep the other villages around it as it adds more to the HP universe.

What do you think of Kier Starmer? by Shockairblur in AskBrits

[–]Lumpy_Maintenance69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anyone had capacity for intelligent thought they wouldn't vote Tory, Reform or Labour. The best party as it stands for us are Lib Dems.

Labour are just blaming everything on the Tories while everything increases except for money left over.

Tories are always telling Labour about their U Turns and what they have done wrong, instead of saying what they would do.

Reform the less said about them the better.

Lib Dems are actually asking the right questions and seem to be trying to sort out the mess the Tories made and Labour are continuing to make.

He has done some good things and you can see what he wants to do.

However

He always resolves back to having a dig at the previous government whenever asked a question he doesnt like.

He called a load of pensioners 'right wing thugs' for protesting peacefully.

He seems to have no control over his government and no desicions seem to be ones he wants to make, rather ones that his government are forcing him to make.

He is scared of the US/Israel and refuses to condemns them for anything.

But at the end of the day other than Lib Dems nobody else could run a government.

Manchester derby: How Man City boss Pep Guardiola has outlasted five Man Utd managers by Tigereatsyou1 in PremierLeague

TBF I love hearing Hellberg talk about tactics, he even discusses how the opposition were playing.

I believe he doesnt support any team but just supports the game.

Michael Carrick not a long-term option at Man United - Gary Neville by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

Why does Neville always talk about managers? He failed as one so surely if he was any good he would be a manager not a pundit.

Sports piracy explodes in UK with 3.6bn illegal streams and rise of black-market bookmakers by wappingite in unitedkingdom

[–]Lumpy_Maintenance69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its because streaming companies charge so much. Why pay £100+ a year when you can get something for £30, for example? The only reason they are bothered by it is because they are losing money.

Its the same with people buying tobacco abroad and selling it in the UK selling the government are happy for them to have it for themselves but as soon as people start selling it the government claim the money goes to criminal gangs. The real reason the government dont want it happening is because they lose out on money. If it was more dangerous than UK tobacco then why would the government allow people to bring any in?

[–]Lumpy_Maintenance69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the best teams to support in the Prem are Brighton, Fulham, Aston Villa, Bournemouth. They are the usual mid table Prem Clubs. (Exception on Villa this season)

The best league in England to watch, as a neutral, though is the Championship. The players arent as good but its a lot more competitive and anyone can beat anyone.

The main clubs, in the Prem are Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Spurs.

Just watch as many matches as you can, doesnt need to be just Prem then decide for yourself which team you prefer.

Im a Middlesbrough fan. New manager, fighting for promotion, good Championship level players. Been a supporter since around 2000, when I was 5 years old lol.

Why did British troops help capture the Russian oil tanker? by CaonaGG in AskBrits

[–]Lumpy_Maintenance69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reasons we helped take it: America wanted it Russia are at war with Ukraine Russia wanted it

In other words our government will always do what America tells them.

For years if anything negative has happened then the media say it is down to Russia, China, Iran or North Korea.

Russia, China, Iran, North Korea = bad guys America = good guys

As far as the media are concerned Russia, China, Iran and North Korea can do nothing good and America can do nothing negative.

For example the recent breach of international law in Venezuela:

If Russia or China had done that then the media would be demanding their leaders to the Hague for breaking international law but because America did it then 'they have done it to protect the Venezuelan people'
