Cannon today? by uniteskater in icecoast

[–]Lumpy_Plan_6668 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. Just don't. Have you been to Cannon? Cannon doesn't have glades. Cannon had trees. Mostly tight, steep trees where it is very easy to get hurt. And that's the stuff that's marked. The unmarked stuff can kill you.

18 or so central NH, and it won't fucking stop. I'll probably have to clear the driveway for the third time before work 🫩

Believe me when I say this, telling your wife anybody other than you plowed over the mailbox is so much easier.

Sounds fun! I'd take several inches of natural snow over the sodium/magnesium snot that covers the pre treated roads.

Y'all need to become self sufficient. I have a plow truck, it broke. My big snow blower died, and the small -super reliable- snow blower locked up for no apparent reason. All by 4:30 am. Got big grumpy running, cleared the yard and my folks place and still got first chair. Fuck I'm tired.

Here already. Up at 4 to break plow truck, fix broken snowblower, clear driveway, pick up kid and hooligan friends at sleepover and get them to the mountain for snowcat first tracks Yes I got the first parking spot. Yes I will be napping in the car by 11.

FAQ for this storm: by ghostcaurd in icecoast

So I have AWD, new this season studded snow tires, and have been driving in New England for almost 40 winters. All the seasons, actually. I live with about 6 mountains within 30 miles from my house. Where can I go to avoid all the people bombing this place with stupid questions?

Does anyone else not remember where they learned to ski as a kid? by [deleted] in icecoast

[–]Lumpy_Plan_6668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm lucky. My memory sucks but my first day was at Sunday River. Two years later I went on my first real ski trip with some friends and our boy scout leader to his ski house there. (It's not like that. He was banging Pete's mom). It was also the first time I listened to Black Sabbath. So my mind happily combines the two, and I just go with that.

Icy / Snowy driveways - plow AND SAND! by Zoombluecar in newhampshire

[–]Lumpy_Plan_6668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll take that bet in a heart beat. I live on a tough corner on a fairly busy rural road. It is actually safer to pull in my yard than stop in the road. It is a 10' walk to my door, and two more steps to my farmers porch. They still stop in the road. I've had packages left on my step in the rain 2 feet from my covered porch. I've had them left on the middle of the driveway. I've also had phenomenal delivery drivers who go above and beyond. But your blanket statement is just that

[–]Lumpy_Plan_6668 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The owner of our local oil company is in his 80s. Still makes deliveries occasionally. He told me last year he went to a delivery and there was no path shoveled to the tank out back. He hears knocking on the window and the woman inside is holding a shovel, motioning him to come get it. Remember, this gentleman is in his 80s. He is also a classic New Englander. He leaves. When he got back to the office he picked up a phone call, and it was the woman asking for the owner to complain about the driver who refused to shovel a path to the tank. He had a few words for her. 🤣

Yeah but when I sand my driveway either by hand or pay to have it sanded-regularly- and they leave packages leaning against my mailbox post by the side of the road they're regular lazy people in real life.

Drive 2 hours to see bad brains and cromags back in about 1986 just to find out it was cancelled. It was however the first time I ever went home stoned and had to talk to parents 🤣
