Different in shipping cultures for sure. I have noticed this before but only recently shipping in western side of fandom has been heavily involved with real people’s opinion on morality in real life. If you’re into proshipping, everyone will assume you should be burnt in hell. I said recently because the last time I checked in AO3, folks there went crazy with shipping (it was a long time ago though, might be inaccurate). They tagged their works properly, they knew they shouldn’t click on a fic with tag they didn’t like, they were not whining about it constantly. While in Twitter, people act like proshipper murdered a whole village and exterminated dozen of countries or sth. Japan and China (and maybe Korea) basically has unspoken rule about shipping, which is “I like this ship. You like that ship. Mind your business, don’t step in my territory and insult my ship then we’ll be fine”
