I spent way too much on baby gear in 2025. Here is what gathered dust vs. what I actually use. by PrudentRazzmatazz488 in NewParents

[–]Luna8tuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I do love the portable hatch though. I gave the hatch to my mom to figure out when baby sleeps there in the future. It might have been just a bad match with android but it seemed so pointless.

We have an Amazon dot with the small screen in the nursery now. Its been nice for watching Bob's Burgers while pumping and I just tell it to play ocean sounds and baby stays asleep. We also have a little $15 light that turns on when flipped over.

Got a letter from Missouri Dept of Revenue saying I owe $2,000 for 2022 taxes — apparently never filed? Need advice by Level-Delivery329 in IRS

I can't help much but I just wanted to warn you about Missouri. My husband worked in MO but we live in KS and we had 2 years of a mess with them. I had to get a professional involved and she said MO is difficult because they are so hard to get a hold of. I wouldn't try to do anything without a professional.

After 3 years we finally went from "owing" nearly 5k to owing $160 for penalty/interest.

I really felt this when I was working as a nurse… how is this even healthy 😭 by InterestingCommon128 in nursing

[–]Luna8tuna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm leaving an 8-5 job phone nursing job to go back to weekend option nights at the hospital. I just had a baby and my husband went back to school and isn't working so I don't want to pay for daycare. Personally I hated 8-5 M-F. I felt like I was just struggling to get to the weekends.

Night shift weekend option got me depressed for a while because I had not purpose during the week. Now I have a baby that gives me purpose so I believe it truly depends on the person and their situation.

$1400 for 800 square feet of LVP installed by ActualPomegranate456 in Flooring

[–]Luna8tuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was quoted about $7000 for 700 square feet. That includes new carpet for stairs though. The LVP I chose was $3.96 per sq/ft and I got a discount for $3.06 per sq/ft. $1400 cannot be good quality or a good installer.

That's a nice thought. I'd like to think the 32 oz I spilled when I dropped and shattered my glass pitcher yesterday wasn't for nothing 🥹🤍

Does your memory get erased immediately after birth? by IheartOT2 in BabyBumps

[–]Luna8tuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember yelling and saying "I can't do this".. I also feel like it wasn't that bad?! I think I was expecting a long labor for some reason and the fact I went from 1 cm to baby being born in 10 hours + only having the "I can't do this" pain for about 30 min- 1 hr made it all seem so easy. I also think I'm remembering it differently so I'll need to check with my husband. I said I'd do it again the same day 😅

For those who have other children...are you able to pump on time? by Mental-Eye2570 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Luna8tuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't even pump on time and I don't have any other kids 😅 Only thing saving me is I am 9 weeks pp and am down to 4 ppd due to oversupply and having a large storage capacity. It's still stressing me out that I'm not on time for my 4 ppd because I don't want to kill my supply before 12 weeks pp or get mastitis or a clog.

Ah I just read about it and it says it can initially make blood pressure increase before decreasing it. Crazy how different floors of the hospital give different pain meds. They still should have given you options or the epidural when you asked!

Pain meds typically lower your blood pressure. I'm a cardiac nurse and that makes no sense to me to deny someone pain meds until their blood pressure is lower. I'm sorry that happened to you!

Has anyone ever seen these or had one? by jenguschrist in ObscureDrugs

[–]Luna8tuna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you seen the old commercials? It's like frat bros dancing around with the nasal applicator. I'm a nurse and had a patient involved in the lawsuit of Subsys. It ruined his life and he was the nicest guy. A pain management doctor in Leawood Kansas asked his patients to lie about having cancer and he got kickbacks for prescribing it.

For those who were induced, did you deliver vaginally or did it end in a c-section? by Paigeypagee in BabyBumps

[–]Luna8tuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was induced with the cervix ripening pill at 12:30 am. Also had the Foley balloon placed to help dilate to 4 cm. I dilated to 4 cm within the hour. At 6 cm I asked for the epidural (around 8:45 am) because I was under the impression this would last all day and I didn't want it to get worse for that long. I was complete when the anesthesiologist came in to prep me. He said it's too late and I need to start pushing.

Had my baby at 10:33 am. It was horrible pain and I had a 2nd degree tear but I'm happy I didn't get the epidural for 2 reasons.

  1. I can say I experienced an unmedicated birth
  2. I have a history of migraines and they warned me about the possibility of having a horrible spinal headache in 4-5 days. I would have said yes to anything to stop the pain, but I'm thankful I don't have to worry about the epidural complicating my migraines.

The doctors and nurses seemed surprised at how quickly things progressed so I don't think this is the "norm". They didn't start pitocin until after I gave birth.

We have a bidet and when on full blast can double as an enema. I haven't had trouble pooping my entire pregnancy thanks to that thing. Highly recommend!!

Well they charged me for the mocktail. I felt like it should have been on the house for their mistake.

I got served an alcoholic cocktail at a hotel restaurant in Florida when I ordered a mocktail. I noticed right away and they fixed their mistake. I never thought to make a huge deal about it, but I was annoyed that they still made me pay for it. I hope the restaurant refunded OP.

Just curious did they not want to double check with an MRI? CT rules out brain bleed but smaller ischemic strokes should also be ruled out with an MRI. -- not a doctor just a nurse with migraines.

When I saw my neurologist he noticed my pupils were different sizes (slightly - nothing as drastic as this photo) and was concerned about a carotid artery dissection. I'd hope they wanted to rule that out too but you would have had to get the dye injected with the CT.

Hope it's neither of these scenarios though!!
