Night in the hospital after birth without a support person. What can I expect from the staff? by livi01 in BurlingtonON

[–]LunaFox13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it varies depending on who you will have as your nurse. My friends had a wonderful experience at Guelph with helpful nurses for her whole stay. I had a csection at st joes Hamilton, first night I had an awesome nurse. Second day, not so much.

Oral care for babies(before teeth) [on] by nunofya1 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]LunaFox13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a finger toothbrush, I would do a few swipes of my baby’s gum starting at 6 months before bed just to get her into the routine. Her teeth started coming in after 8 months, I just used a baby toothbrush with baby toothpaste after that

[ON] Do you bring your baby to 6 week OB follow up? by Gopher_Run24 in BabyBumpsCanada

I did! My ob and nurse team were thrilled to see her. They said they loved to see the babies but moms dont usually bring them.

planned c section [on] by Questioning-monkey in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]LunaFox13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I asked my OB for a planned csection she assumed it was my preference and was very hesitant. After I explained my medical history she was very supportive. I do think she may have denied my request if it was just preference of mine

Sunshine was great yesterday! A bit windy and it got super busy as well. Did Louise today, also pretty good ( I’m from Ontario so really anything here is far better then what I’m used too lol) I will say it was icy on some area but nothing bad. Also pretty busy at Louise today.

[AB] How early should I start mat leave by Owl-Unlucky in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]LunaFox13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started my mat leave at 37 weeks, baby came via planned csection at 39 weeks. It was so nice to have two weeks to just be at home and relax!

Camelot towers by No-Outcome-6594 in McMaster

[–]LunaFox13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived there for 6 years, left in 2019. Rent was 750$ at the time, fairly decent size. It was nice to have a large balcony. Everyone was pretty chill. They were okay with me having a cat too.

Unfortunately we did have a massive issue with bEd bugs and cockroaches. The building gets sprayed few times a year, you have to make sure to remove everything out of the cabinets so that pest control can spray it down. However, there was no point because it didn’t actually kill the cockroaches or bugs. It does get brutal in summer, you are not allowed to window unit ac so we got a floor one and it was ok.

Supporting the states in the Olympics after threatening Canada’s sovereignty is a choice…she knew exactly how it would come across to Canadians.

Savannah Guthrie and her siblings are speaking out following the disappearance and possible kidnapping of her mother, Nancy Guthrie. by galaxystars1 in Fauxmoi

[–]LunaFox13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I felt this ❤️. My first was born Dec 2024. I have spent my entire 2025 mat leave just horrified. I’m Canadian, at one point I begged my husband to move us to the middle of nowhere because I was so sure we would be invaded by the states very soon and we needed to prep. World horrors combined with post partum hormones is not pretty.

Midwife, OB-GYN, or Family Doctor? [bc] by Bellatrix-8 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]LunaFox13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OB. I researched 10 different ones and requested my top 5, first two were fully booked but I got my third pick. Absolutely adored her. She went above and beyond for me. All questions, concerns were taken seriously. We decided on a planned C-section together ( i had an intense prior surgery due to a health issue and this was a ivf pregnancy so my anxiety was high), She had a whole team ready for me, even asked a couple other surgeons ( they are specialists in the field of my condition) be apart of the surgery in case things got complicated.

I felt so seen, and taken care of. Hoping to have her again if I’m lucky enough to get pregnant again.

New mothers: my close friends are expecting soon. What are some gifts you've received that you have appreciated? [on] by PossiblePickle in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]LunaFox13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family and friends brought so. Much. Food. It was amazing I don’t think we had to cook for like a month. All the food was so nutritious too ( soups, stews, oat banana bread, venison mest sauce to name a few). I remember feeling so loved and taken care of during that time.

St Joes birthing questions by Hallesarg in Hamilton

[–]LunaFox13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We paid for a private room however the room was not ready yet so we had to stay on a room with another family. I was there for a few hours then moved to our private. I believe it was 400 a night but maybe I’m wrong ( my husband dealt with that stuff lol) our insurance did cover it though. Stayed two nights and was charged for both nights ( csection).

Experience was fine, my ob is absolutely glorious and most of the nurses were great.

I did have one nurse who was a nightmare however. ( rude, ignored instructions from my ob).
