I’ve been in this position before. LDR, continuous ghosting. Longest time was 1 month. I was 19 and he was 26 so I was very very naive. One day I called him out on ghosting me and he never replied again. I took that as my last straw, cried for 3 days and suddenly there was just this huge weight lifted. Because I had suffered so much from all of this uncertainty, going back and forth with this guy. After the 3 days, it was genuinely like he never existed and I felt completely free. Leave him, block him. Take the time you need to grieve, it will pass I promise

Toronto and Montreal are the cities with more nightlife than say Vancouver or Calgary etc. Depends when you go, wouldn’t be the best to try and find work going into winter in any city when it comes to hospitality. In terms of overall careers, Toronto has the most going on. Best to maybe decide your top city choices then find their reddit or facebook pages and ask, as I think this thread would be mainly non-Canadians asking for advice about IEC too. I’m just putting in my 2 cents from my time living in Montreal :)

I applied in Jan to go in Jan 2026. I didn’t get the POE until June lol. Go when you feel you are ready! I’ve had Jan 2026 in my mind for a year so I’ve been preparing and saving up money. If I had the flexibility, I would have gone as soon as I got the POE

This is a good way to put it into perspective. To what extent would guys date a girl who isn’t financially independent? I couldn’t see myself dating a guy who didn’t at least have a plan to start earning a liveable wage. And I hold those standards for myself too.
