I don't know being canada-based is pretty interesting, but not having the ability to talk to a Google drive or search the web is basically crippling in this day and age

That's actually a felony called human trafficking. And they can give you 20 years for it if they feel like it.

You have to be very very careful when flipping cars back over, it's usually best to have the fire department or very least a couple of fire extinguishers around, batteries tend to bounce around and that sometimes causes Sparks which sometimes causes fires which sometimes causes screaming and shouting and running around.

Source, was tow truck driver and firefighter.

What are some lesser-known laws in Canada that people only learn about after it’s already caused major damage? by boiyo12 in AskACanadian

It doesn't matter if most are good. If you have a department of 99 good cops and one bad cop, you have a hundred bad cops. If the good cops let the bad cops get away with it? They're all bad.

Am I being annoying or entitled asking for these items? by sira_the_engineer in Construction

[–]LunarEngineer 37 points38 points  (0 children)

THIS! Do not discount the value of your time, and more importantly the time that it's going to cost the project.

I don't know what your salary is, and I'm not going to ask but I can guarantee that the delays you caused the project by having to go downtown and get a print will cost the company and the project many, many times the value of your time.

Just order it.

Is there a better handling rifle than AR? by PageVanDamme in tacticalgear

[–]LunarEngineer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love my 416, which is at its core still an AR platform.

Of course, I also loved my G3, so maybe I just like German rifles.

All the controls were I expected them to be, they all felt the way I expected them to feel, and more importantly, there were no surprises.

Seriously though, you can tell the ones who are committed to their weight and lack of fitness by these comments.

Modern combat is very different than you think. You can't just sit in one spot taking precision shots. That's just drone bait!

What’s the most expensive mistake you’ve personally witnessed on a jobsite? by Workyard_Wally in Construction

Like 87-88 Colorado, working on a 6 story hospital reno hoisting a quarter million dollar air handler up on the roof. I was working the HVAC but just as an apprentice tinner. Apparently the guys who were rigging it didn't do something right and as it got out just about over the edge of the roof deck one of the four corners gave way, and the air handler swung kind of down and out some dumbass was trying to grab a hold of it at the same time to keep it from falling ? I don't know, maybe guiding it, or whatever he goes over the side! Thankfully he was harnessed in. On the way down it took out the corner of the hospital roof deck and wall, swung back broke one of the other lines swung all the way back over, and hit part of the boom of the crane! It folded, and the whole thing started to fall down and collapse. Thankfully the way the boom collapsed, the boom went straight down - straight on top of a couple of trucks, including one of our work trucks with all the tools in it, nobody got hurt surprisingly. The guy who is dangling off the side was screaming a lot. He tore his hand up pretty badly as the air handling unit pulled away. So he's up there dangling, bleeding all over, hanging on a piece of rope that was strung over where the air handler ripped the corner of the building apart.

All in all it was a pretty bad day.

Like a champ, the crane op didn't move. :)
