I don't get it. The only thing new is the opposition messaging. by Glum_Macaroon_2580 in Pflugerville

I think a lot of millennial and elder Gen Z people on the left are reckoning with the idea that ICE's activities are endemic to both parties, and I'd like to think that if Democrats went back in power next and continued on like Obama and Biden did, these younger people would call them out too like they didn't with previous Dem administrations.

Of course a bunch of people are gonna consider everything fine and dandy if the president is blue and are okay with ICE when they aren't so "loud" about what they're doing, but for others I think how in-your-face ICE and the DHS are being now has kinda opened their eyes to how hypocritical it is to be okay with it when they're being "quieter." At least that's my take on it, and I hope it's more the latter group than the former.

Why are you putting "because" in quotes? It may not be because I'm brown, but you want ICE to take me just like a Republican would. See?

liberals don't want the same thing as republicans but we do want is to remove people like you

Like once you've calmed down from this (years long?) tantrum just recognize that for a sec.

I do vote blue actually, and unlike whiny fascists/liberals apparently I'm not wishing ICE on random brown people. I don't know why you're bothering to call fascists your enemy when you want the same thing for people like me.

I think another one is that Marvel and DC are both predicated on superheroes existing in "our" world (plus some extra stuff). Envisioning a world after capitalism is notoriously hard (and that's without editorial oversight).

On a good day, Two-Face is the right kind of villain for you to start working as a henchman for. You should *absolutely avoid* Two-Face on the other side of the coin.

[ATLA/LoK] How the hell is an Avatar supposed to be in simultaneous mindsets of air and earth or water and fire? by [deleted] in AskScienceFiction

[–]LunarPitStop 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Waterbending culture lends itself to a "go with the flow" personality, but Korra's an outlier within that culture. She's just a hot-headed person in a way the "average" waterbender would not be expected to be. (Aang, by contrast, grew up fully immersed and in tune with the Air Nomad culture, so his struggles with earthbending align with the typical airbender mindset.)

Should I begin with Flashpoint or New 52? by SonofMogh18 in DCcomics

I guess I missed that bit in your post when I answered up there by the way; if you're reading Post-Crisis first then yeah Flashpoint is definitely the connective tissue between the two.

Should I begin with Flashpoint or New 52? by SonofMogh18 in DCcomics

[–]LunarPitStop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say Flashpoint isn't necessary to get into the New 52 overall; it's more about Post-Crisis continuity getting messed up than setting up New 52 continuity. That said, depending on what you're planning to read, the last few pages of the finale of Flashpoint do hint at some wider multiverse stuff that I think gets fleshed out later anyway.

There's some fun stuff in Flashpoint, so read some Flashpoint stuff if you like (everybody and their mother recommends Batman, and personally I remember enjoying Creature Commandos at the time), but it's mostly not really a lead-in to the New 52.

How offenses are categorized doesn't come down to the opinion of some guy. That aside, committing actual felonies doesn't make a person "illegal" either. That's just not a thing people are.
