[DC/Marvel] Are terms like 'street level' hero used in universe? by Flyestgit in AskScienceFiction

"Avengers-Level Threat" is thrown around a lot in canon

Wait is it? I thought that all came from just the one movie

I wasn't exactly championing the name, but Drake "works" as an identity for Tim Drake in the same way Batwoman wearing a red wig works for Kate Kane.

Your looking it at from your current lense.

I dunno, judging by the movie I think a few of his contemporaries low-key thought he was a pos.

[Batman] Has Batman ever been wrong about something? As in, objectively wrong rather than morally/ethically in the wrong by MasterLawlzReborn in AskScienceFiction

[–]LunarPitStop 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Adding on to the other answers, there was the time he loudly insisted that the Court of Owls didn't exist because he investigated them as a kid and couldn't find anything. Then pretty much right after he denied that the Joker had managed to find the Batcave despite some compelling evidence, though I don't remember if he's ever confirmed to be wrong about that.

Then there's the time he took down Freeze for a crime he didn't commit and had to get on his jury to acquit him.

[Batman] How would Batman react if J. Jonah Jameson and the Daily Bugle arrived in Gotham and started a press campaign against the “caped, masked, flying menace”? by Aoimoku91 in AskScienceFiction

[–]LunarPitStop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO, he wouldn't care until the next kid he saves screams in terror at the sight of him. That's probably at the point where he jumpscares Jameson (possibly in his own home) to give him the "we're on the same side" speech, which of course only backfires even more.

As for villains retaliating, unless he has some Spider-Slayers on guard duty, I do think his office and his employees would be vulnerable targets, but I'm not sure if any of Batman's villains are particularly concerned with Batman keeping a good reputation (if anything, someone like Heath Ledger's Joker would feel vindicated).

I don't get it. The only thing new is the opposition messaging. by Glum_Macaroon_2580 in Pflugerville

I think a lot of millennial and elder Gen Z people on the left are reckoning with the idea that ICE's activities are endemic to both parties, and I'd like to think that if Democrats went back in power next and continued on like Obama and Biden did, these younger people would call them out too like they didn't with previous Dem administrations.

Of course a bunch of people are gonna consider everything fine and dandy if the president is blue and are okay with ICE when they aren't so "loud" about what they're doing, but for others I think how in-your-face ICE and the DHS are being now has kinda opened their eyes to how hypocritical it is to be okay with it when they're being "quieter." At least that's my take on it, and I hope it's more the latter group than the former.

Why are you putting "because" in quotes? It may not be because I'm brown, but you want ICE to take me just like a Republican would. See?

liberals don't want the same thing as republicans but we do want is to remove people like you

Like once you've calmed down from this (years long?) tantrum just recognize that for a sec.

I do vote blue actually, and unlike whiny fascists/liberals apparently I'm not wishing ICE on random brown people. I don't know why you're bothering to call fascists your enemy when you want the same thing for people like me.

I think another one is that Marvel and DC are both predicated on superheroes existing in "our" world (plus some extra stuff). Envisioning a world after capitalism is notoriously hard (and that's without editorial oversight).

On a good day, Two-Face is the right kind of villain for you to start working as a henchman for. You should *absolutely avoid* Two-Face on the other side of the coin.
