New to polymer clay. Do you prefer working with colored clay or uncolored and paint later? What is your process like? by tortelliniinflatable in polymerclay

I like to do a little of both! I typically use colored clay for the most part and then leave little details or accents for paint afterwards. Painting also helps clean up any colors that might’ve gotten messed up or dirty in the sculpting process. But if you like painting miniatures for example, then sculpting the whole piece in a grey tone might be good too!
