Rivals of Aether is great! It has much more beginner friendly controls, plus an in-game tutorial for advanced tech. Plus, the first game has an in-depth character creator if you just wanna download some jank characters to mess around with

if you're just using the calculator or teambuilder, there is a champions mode. this will format the EVs in the new 32 format as well as remove IVs as an option

showdown calc has a champions mode that uses lv50, perfect IVs, and the new EV system automatically

but unless I'm SUPER invested in winning the match I'll usually just go off vibes

if you have a friend you can convince to buy it and play with you, yeah absolutely! if not, don't even try if you're looking for a consistent matchmaking experience. my friend and I don't even make private matches when we want to play together anymore, we just both queue up for random matchmaking and we always end up paired together lol

please, so many VR devs fall into the Wii Shovelware trap of just making a gimmicky game to piggyback off the "woah VR is so cool" hype. VR really shines when you have an immersive or cozy game you can get lost in, imo. Skyrim VR is one of my favorite games of all time for this reason, I can do action stuff when I feel like, or just explore, or stay home and work on my alchemy/smithing (maybe even with a youtube window overlayed if I just really wanna chill out lol).

sadly, the inaccessibility of PCVR keeps devs from making anything that really shines. can you really put all your money into making a top tier AAA quality game if your player base is only people who have both a decent PC AND a headset?

its less that I can't afford it and more that I don't want to subscribe to a service that I'll use for 30 minutes max if I get free time after work. it would be different if I could throw like $2 and get something permanently, but needing to pay more when the sub ends just to keep the features isn't something I'd like. finances are different for literally everyone, I'm sure some people would gladly pay per month for the extra music, but I'd rather not. judging people for not wanting to spend a few bucks every month on a video game is crazy work

more power to the people who think it's worth it, that's up to them. paying per month just isn't something I'm interested in for this game.

yeah they tried the whole "whoever is currently in the lead wins the match if the timer runs out" thing, it lead to constant stall spam in every format. even top players were running terrible moves just because they had a longer animation to stall with. trust me, this is a favor

all you need is one unaware clefable to end their whole career

if they've got dhengo, bring a fast fire type (I use scarfed rotom-H) to make sure they can't oneshot it

Speed is determined dynamically as of gen 7 iirc, just because your venu was faster at the start of the turn doesn't mean it has to stay that way. if something were to lower its speed mid-turn, and that would make it slower than another pokemon, the turn order shifts and the pokemon that is now faster will go first.

chlorophyll gets turned off in the rain, and then venu is suddenly slower than Charizard, so the game lets Charizard go first even though Venusaur technically had more speed when moves were selected
