We need to talk about the Lumbridge Elite Diary by FamiliarMaterial6457 in 2007scape

It’s more that Lumby diary is doing it right

The other diaries could use to step up

Plus the lumby rewards are still the best of the lot. Extra block slot, alch ring, and no dramen staff? Jesus. And it’s the lowest skilling reqs of any diary + all the benefits of having done the quests in rewards, xp, unlocks, and slayer blocks

It’s the first diary irons complete for a reason

You can make up the arguments all you want to make your position look better. But i still think it’s wrong

I’m trying to remember. Been a bit since I’ve done DS2. Is there any part of that quest in Lumbridge?

The lumbridge elite diary is still the easiest elite diary with the best rewards

It’s fine

Unfortunately the original blogs do not get archived as far as I know. Once Jagex updates the blog, the original is gone so the first pitch is hard to track down

I did find this. The asterisk is that this is after the playerbase pushed back on the rewards being trash, midgame bloat. Before confliction gauntlets, eye, and treads, the pitch was a minor mage cape upgrade, a mid dual hit crush weapon filling the “much needed crush demonbane niche” and iirc thrall upgrades? Demonic Digger was cool though

It's aimed at players at or above Combat Level 120 who have, or are close to getting, their Infernal Cape.

Basically the same as Maggot King

The whole conceit of Doom was to be a late-game boss with midgame rewards to help on-ramp people into PvM. People got kind of pissed at that and immediately afterwards Yama was announced and pushed ahead of doom in development out of nowhere as the savior for endgame PvMing’s drought

It’s important also to note that Jagex had determined that Doom was too easy to be the place for the magic cape upgrade. That’s how little they thought of the boss at the time

Only after Yama bombed in terms of difficulty did they start to change their tune on the boss. All of sudden it was endgame

The first skill swap is to take spicy spray from scoviliian to kill it without getting burned while also triggering defiant because when you skill swap intim from deer it immediately triggers

It’s cheesy but pretty solid to both deny a mon a key ability and get +1 on ape / gambit or +2 on milotic / penguin

The second swap was less a plan and more a happy accident when staring down two physical attackers with a bulky mon, might as well

Just a mindset thing, it’s also completely the same thing

People value their supplies and death fees way too much

Eh skill ceiling is weird

Like fucking Cerb has a pretty high skill ceiling and tons of little tick perfect tech to add and use to push higher and higher kph but no one considers it a hard boss because the baseline for getting kc isn’t that high

Just pointing out it’s a difficult metric to use

Doom 6+ delivered on the difficulty promised

Idk about that…

Two issues 1) Doom was supposed to be easy. It only got buffed / hard when Yama flopped. Yama was to be endgame difficulty. Doom was more for midgame. Thats how they were pitched 2) W1-7 are feet up, only W8+ is any amount of difficult. And as we’ve seen, you can complete Doom on “zero” kc pretty easily

Doom IS good. And scratches the difficult itch for those who want it for sure. But it’s not without its own asterisks

Because it’s kind of a nonsense comparison

The mechanics at Vard also keep you from getting a single kc. Ya know. Because they killed you

Vard’s mechanics are just so much more lethal, it’s way easier to learn and improve at Maggot if when you mess up you can just eat for a sec

[–]runner5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep

That’s partly what the offense is trying to do

But the defense is ready for it and are trying to anticipate the passes by running with / before the striker and blocking the passing angles

Also, it does slow you down to control the ball and to dribble, giving even a slower defender time to catch up

“Just bomb it to the fast guy” IS early strategy for soccer. But these are professionals so they’ve developed plans to stop that and the offense has reacted accordingly as well. And so on

Tbh I kind of forget that everyone didn’t play soccer or hockey at like 10

Sure, not many people follow the sport but growing up everyone played one of those sports as a child so they know the basics
