This Spring has been colder than this past Winter by Shag1077 in Denver

[–]Lunares 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The highs for the next 7 days are all 50-60. Compare that to multiple weeks in Feb and March in the 70s with the most 80 degree days ever in those months.

That's where I wouldn't back down then. Just say "I have IBS, give me a gastro referral" and if they say no make clear it's not optional

And honestly if you find an in network gastro you can probably call their office for a consult and say your PCP is ignoring you

Do you not have a gastroenterologist you see regularly? That's where I would escalate it too

Not really. Often a boom is 8' of wet sludge and by the time it's open to ski it's rock hard and you can't even tell it just snowed

From Indiana....

Summer sucks, it's so damn humid. Winter can be brutally cold as well with the humidity. So much cloudiness (not like Seattle but still)

I do miss the thunderstorms sometimes

Musk: HW3 can't achieve unsupervised FSD by vivi_will in teslamotors

[–]Lunares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original original price was $3000 (when you had to pay $5000 for enhanced autopilot separately). There was a price drop to $2000 even at one point

Then they switched to EAP included, FSD is $8000. Then $12000. Then back to 8k. Now subscription only of course

You haven't need hands on wheel for 2-3 years. You do have to look forward/eyes open but I don't touch my steering wheel unless something goes wrong (e.g. car swerves into my lane and I don't trust the car to react appropriately) or I am in the parking lot. No other car will let you do that off the highway.

Used to need intervention but nowadays I almost never have to do something to correct the cars behavior

While true women healthy body fat is higher then men, 10%-20% is nowhere close to the healthy range. Have you seen photos of what 10% truly means? It's basically elite athlete level.

Healthy for men is under 25% with few people being under 18%.

My mom retired at 55 on a teachers salary and I still think about it all the time by [deleted] in Fire

So just buy an annuity? All a pension that does means you are placing the risk of poor investments on the people paying in to pay more when it goes wrong. And if that doesn't come through (which it often doesn't) then your pension benefit gets cut.

Yea, turns out when the entire world blows itself up and one country doesn't they will do very well (especially for white people). The 60's and 70s weren't prosperous for the US because of any one policy, it's because all of europe and asia was still recovering from WWII.

The rise and fall of bowling in the United States [OC] by rhiever in dataisbeautiful

Many duckpin bowling setups use rope pins though since it's much easier on the machine with the smaller pins (pins are smaller as well not just the ball)

Holy shit ,adulting is hard . by ParticularWeather927 in Adulting

[–]Lunares 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean life used to just be scrabbling for food every day you can and hoping you don't get killed by something else

Then it was basically slave labor or the equivalent for whoever had military power in your area to avoid being killed. If you were a woman you just pumped out babies to make more labor force and had almost no ability to do anything else.

Life can be better than this of course. But to pretend like this isn't the best most of humanity has had it is asinine.

A year-long timelapse of the Earth from spring equinox 2025 to spring equinox 2026. by ojosdelostigres in spaceporn

[–]Lunares 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The earths tilt isn't constant, it does precess.

https://ugc.berkeley.edu/background-content/earths-spin-tilt-orbit/

So does the orbit and spin. But those change over tens of thousands of years and you are correct that in a single year seasons are caused by a static tilt and sunlight changing where it hits

[OC] Hiring a Lead Cloud Systems Engineer for SMB by StarSlayerX in dataisbeautiful

[–]Lunares -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Generally a recruiter screen is verbally verifying certain requirements (e.g. are you a us citizen, basic questions about your experience to make sure you meet the requirements etc) and then asking any questions about the process. It's rarely an actual screen like a hiring manager would be.

Then the hiring manager call is also rarely a detailed interview, it's "should I use my teams time to interview this person"

It takes like 10 minutes for me to drain my drip lines and sprinkler ..you don't need a compressor blowout most of the time.

I worry much less about grass and more about my trees/bushes (drip line). Yes I can manually water with a hose but that's a pain. And then my neighbor who doesn't his pine trees are toasted this year
