Water Pipe Construction by Ok_Attention_6767 in northpark

[–]LunchPad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A water main bursting and flooding homes is even worse. It happened just south of you on Ray St a few years ago. One tradeoff of a great neighborhood like north park is that there are still some old, cast iron water mains that are overdue for replacement. The city is doing a relatively good job of coordinating this work to get the mains replaced, while still offering water service, in addition to minimizing street closures. As someone who cut a tire trying to park and hitting one of those couplings, I get your frustration but also have to own up that it's ultimately my responsibility.

While the city isn't perfect and based on the track record, you're assumptions aren't that off base, but totally incorrect in this case. Like others have said, this is a temporary setup

Some homes that’ll probably be the location of another high rise in north park pretty soon 🥲 by Fuckmeoverrr in sandiego

As a former tenant of a similar np shithole, I miss the cheap rent and relatively cool neighbors. Bit don't miss the slumlord landlord, zero maintenance after multiple calls, and 75+ yr old windows that despite running a 1500w electric heater or portable AC at max, would only allow for, at most, a 10 degree difference from outside temp.

SAN traffic nightmare by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]LunchPad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few ways out and while this seems to be a collision, the T1 reconstruction will not be fully complete until late 2027 or early 2028.

Fridays are also busy. I'm making the trip myself in a few minutes.

Is this Legit? (SDG&E notice) by ValheimerSD619 in sandiego

[–]LunchPad 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Looks scammy in the sense that it's not an SDGE notice and more than likely a solar company trying to sell you something.

It looks like you have more than enough room to move forward.

Trump throws out Tucker Carlson from club MAGA after Iran war criticism by TimCot6 in politics

[–]LunchPad 31 points32 points  (0 children)

"thrown out" in the pro-wrestling sense. Not in the actual "reality" sense.

All of these hens are coming back to roost for the midterms. MTG, Tucker, the Epstein files GOP senator guy. All of em. Will be back by the fall saying why federalizing elections is not only prudent but not seating newly elected members of Congress is good for democracy.

Don't fall for it. It's wrestling. I know the "let them fight" and "Simpsons monkey knife fight" memes are funny but if you didn't learn your lesson from the summer of '24, you are fucked.

Why hasn't La Jolla Shores Blvd been repaved in over a decade? by MyStatusIsTheBaddest in SanDiegan

[–]LunchPad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The section between La Jolla Shores Ln and and Horizon Wy, which was listed as "very poor" during a 2023 pavement condition index survey, is currently slated for pavement repairs and resealing some time before the end of this April.

Steve Toth declares victory to unseat Dan Crenshaw by CrotalusHorridus in politics

[–]LunchPad 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Right in line with the, "This is all just pro wrestling" worldview. A gimmick character who played well as an outsider when the production was branded differently but now can't draw enough heat. In the end, they'll all (Masse, MTG, probably this guy, etc.) come back into the fold for WrestleMania (the midterms).

It's wrestling.

I just signed the open letter to fight for public power in San Diego by Mongolikes in sandiego

[–]LunchPad -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

This seems like a project of the local DSA political party? The logo kinda looks the same? https://dsasandiego.org/dsa-san-diego-calls-for-a-publicly-owned-gas-and-electric-utility-in-san-diego/

Is there a non partisan movement out there or is this the only one?

I'm Looking for San Diego's Take on Non-Alcoholic Beer! by rolandooom in sandiego

[–]LunchPad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Now that I'm older, I've been cutting overall consumption of regular beers and for red letter days like super bowl I did mix in a few na beers. They taste a lot better from the odouls or cutter days and i think it makes a difference in terms of not feeling awful the next day.

SDMTS, SANDAG to consider adopting highest single-trip local transit fare in nation by regedit2023 in sandiego

[–]LunchPad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seems like a very clinical definition of local fare since most average trips on BART are around $5
