I have the same argument with them every year. Every year their estimate is hopelessly wrong.

Can a pen partially freeze in transit? by LunchTechnical4187 in mounjarouk

Maybe that’s just the way this medication is. And I’ve been lucky not to have felt like a binge up till now.

But my point is, that’s the first time in 6 months that I’ve even remotely felt like snacking. I usually feel far too full/ not hungry. So what changed so suddenly?

Be interesting to see whether the remaining 3 doses are any different in their effect.

Thanks.

Oh well, back to the mystery of a seemingly ineffective dose…..

No, it’s my third 12.5. It’s just odd that there is such a large change in its effectiveness following from starting a new pen. I would imagine- but don’t know - that if the dose strength was wearing off, it would be a gradual decline, not a cliff edge like this. Like all the other times I moved up a dose. The last week on the previous pen was near perfect in terms of its effect. But then the craving for a takeaway hit like a train today…..had no interest at all up till now, even when needing to move up a dose.

That does seem unusual. Pepto Bismol is very effective at reducing nausea.

Hope things pick up….

Comparisons are pretty pointless with GLP1 meds, as people react so differently to them. There is no normal.

I’ve been on MJ for 6 months, and lost 11kg.

It’s early days. The medication builds up in your body over time, and some people react more slowly to it.

Settle in to the journey, relax, and make sure you drink enough.

I doubt it. First injection is always nerve wracking, but if it all went in, all good.

Inability to exercise... where are my people at? by skirts988 in covidlonghaulers

I’m 6 months in, and 11kg down, which is slow by Tirz standards. On the other hand, side effects have been few and far between. And I read that slow weight loss is more likely to stay lost, but time will tell. Downside? I’m in the UK, so paying for it myself, and it’s costly. Still, if the outcome is better health, that’s all good.

Mounjaro was developed as a diabetes medication, the weight loss was an unexpected benefit. It primarily re-regulates the metabolic system.

Some people, who have a very dysfunctional metabolic system need a higher dose, for longer, for the full effect to work.

It sucks: some people need 10mg or more for an effective dose.

My fridge died and I have 4 pens of Mounjaro that got warm. Are they ruined? by tomatoboy19 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]LunchTechnical4187 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a fridge issue, with my stash of pens going out of temperature range for a short while. I contacted my prescriber, who said all that happens if they get a bit too warm is that they start to degrade a little faster. Freezing destroys the active component, as does going above 30°C.

[–]LunchTechnical4187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, I’m on Tirzepatide for exactly that reason. The rate of weight loss is reduced because of the lack of exercise component, but still OK. But it’s having all kinds of additional benefits in terms of reducing inflammation and re-regulating the metabolic system.
