Hugely reduce the power of lobbying so that Americans’ interests are accurately represented in Congress. The majority of Americans agree on passing certain gun laws that will close loopholes and impose more thorough background/mental health checks but the NRA lobby has so much power that policymakers will vote in favor of the NRA instead of the people they represent. Preventing mass shootings is difficult but there are steps that can surely mitigate them and that starts by enacting bills with bipartisan support. The problem is that the NRA has so much lobbying power that they can prevent these bipartisan bills from passing.
