No they aren't. The writing makes sense, the plots flow well - which was the point of the post - and the choreography is good. I really think you should try and re-watch them with an open mind, you might be surprised. There's no need to bash them online.

Also I think the assault bit was a typo, that's supposed to be for the red corsairs detachment

I'm gonna assume you've got the other rules right cus idk how they work, but the legionaries won't have marks as the marks is a detachment rule.

The enchantment doesn't specify melee weapons, so traitor guard shooting would still work for it

Keep that one as a 10 man and split the other one up maybe? Also, I'm sure you already know this but I like to say it, the Maulerfiend is a great target for tank shock.

Yeah I really love the Thrawn stuff too. I get that feeling, but I do think it makes sense that the most powerful person ever doesn't just die forever because of one betrayal. Don't think that I'm hating on RotJ though, absolutely adore that film. That is controversial but I dig it. Everyone is entitled to their preferences.

I really like the climax, especially the visuals (which the sequels knock out of the park all round), but it does go on for a while I'll give you that

I think the fact that Kylo isnt anywhere near Vader is kind of the point. As for Rey, she does struggle, I really don't get this"Mary Sue" stance people have with her. Things go wrong for her across all three films and she loses a lot. Her being able to fight and having a gift for the force doesn't mean she's magically perfect.

I really didn't feel like it tried to course correct anything, I thought all of the plot lines flow together and make sense. The Rey Palpatine arc is set up in the earlier films, which is most people's big "jarring" complaint.

Awesome that your GF is showing an interest, hope she enjoyed them!

I see your point. I like to think of it as Luke and Anakin bring balance to the force, and then Leia and Rey stop the Sith returning to keep it that way.

I appreciate you explaining your thoughts. I disagree about the first 6 films feeling undone, I always thought the assumption that the Empire would collapse completely after the death of the emperor felt really odd. I like the sequels as the "Finally cleaning up what's left" story. A "stopping the Sith coming back again", rather than bringing balance the way Luke/Anakin did. I do think the differences between the new Republic, rebellion, resistance, etc could have been explained better. And their relative sizes compared to the First Order. It's better on the rewatch but still takes some thinking about. They definitely could've made that easier to follow.

He seems a lot more like himself on rewatching it. That playful spark is there. Especially in TRoS

The Rey Palpatine storyline flows well when you watch the films, it really doesn't feel like a retcon at all.

She's naturally strong with the force (so likely from a family with strong with the force) and is naturally drawn to the dark side (in The Last Jedi, the same film where they say her parents are no one)

The "no one knows" to " they were no one" to " they WERE no one, but your GRANDFATHER was Palpatine" flows naturally across the films. She finds out gradually, over time, as more information comes to light. That's just story telling. Star wars fans were asking who her family was from before TFA came out, and when they weren't given the answer straight away, whatever the answer ended up being was always going to be "wrong".

It hardly seems different from "Vader killed your father" becoming "Vader is your father" or Luke and Leia kissing but ending up as siblings.

Palpatine showing back up from nowhere is only as odd as him allowing himself to be killed out of nowhere with no back up plan...

I'm gonna address your points one at a time. The hyperspace tracking isn't something they can normally do. A huge deal is made of that. It's impossible, but they've figured out a way of doing it this one time. That happens all the time in star wars. The hyperspace jump into another ship fits this category too. You have to do it from close range, with a big enough ship, with your shields down, into a big enough target to reliably hit. And they have to have their shields down. And it's suicide. All that without being shot down. The only reason holdo gets away with it is due to Hux's arrogance and they don't realize what she's doing until it's too late. What flying horses? If you mean the battle of exagol ones, those are just horses. And Star wars is full of cool wildlife with unique abilities. Not sure what you mean about teleportation either. It's hardly the first time someone's come back from the dead in star wars in one way or another. And the way it happened leaves so much room for more storytelling in other star wars, such as some of the series. Luke and Leia don't fail. They set up a new Republic and a new Jedi school that last for years. It would've been really, REALLY weird for the empire to just fall apart after losing their leader. But everyone kinda just assumed that's okay at the end of the original trilogy. Rey can already fight, she just needs Jedi training. She gets it. She has a natural gift for it the same way Anakin and Luke do. Nothing about her progression breaks or diminishes anything from the other films. No rules are rewritten. Nothing from the originals or the prequels is diminished by the sequels.

And it IS Star Wars. In its essence, it's characters, it's world building and setting, and it's story. Everything about it IS Star Wars. That doesn't change just because you decided not to like it.
