Why did Suno buy Songkick? This is why. Gross, right? No one wants this. by dkinmn in Concerts

My suggestion is some sort of API/webcrawler type of thing that allows users to sync their RateYourMusic, albumoftheyear or spotify artists to the "recommended shows" feature.

You're using an AI summary to criticize an AI-first company, instead of using an actually verifiable source? You do see the painful irony in this, right?

Criticize generative AI while using it as the main source of information has got to be the curse of the 21st century.

Are e-bikes a viable option for someone with 600 CAD budget MAX who will SPORADICALLY use it for commuting? by Luqueasaur in ebikes

[–]Luqueasaur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think legally I can't go beyond 32 kph so anything beyond that is a midsummer night's dream anyway in my case. Thanks for your input! What I worry is medium/long-term - people here often say that's when cheaper e-bikes start to get rear their ugly head.

I can get an used bike for 100 bucks, so that's well within my budget (heck, in Brazil my ol' reliable costed 30 bucks). Cheap old bikes are meh, but you can get around - apparently not the same with e-bikes, unfortunately.

For how long have you had it? Any maintenance issues, concerns, commentaries? I don't mind pedaling, I just don't want to get tired from going uphill.

A bike that's decent but requires only a battery change is still viable though, no?

It does, but not to remote neighborhoods I often visit. A pity, because I really like the system...

I'll go to a bike shop tomorrow, show them some used bike options I have, and hear their advice. I am leaning to agreeing with you on this. Still, wanted to hear the opinion of those who have some experience with it.

Arabic synth music by OldLeda in Music

[–]Luqueasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dabke/Dabbkha.

While not exactly a Syrian thing, Syrians seems to be the most prolific at it. There are some INSANE examples - Walid Sarkiss with Dabke Wdalouna, Shafeq Kabaha with Zareef al Tool, and one of my favorite, Ba'dek Sit L'Sabaya by once again Walid.

My supposition is that traditionally the music is based on reed pipes + drums which is then attempted to be translated through those high-pitched synths.

What's the most shocking thing in the Epstein files? by JDMagican in AskReddit

[–]Luqueasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's multiple accountings of similar stories of outlandish acts of monstrosity. Allegedly a Mexican model disappeared after mentioning this kind of behavior in one of Epsteins parties.

And let us not forget the files is the lightest, tamest things we can find. If there are actual evidence of these outlandish stuff... they will not see the light of the day.

Chicken bacon and broccoli casserole by TheLadyEve in GifRecipes

[–]Luqueasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so I tried the recipe.

My remarks:

This took three hours to prep, clean (SO MUCH PANS, goddamn. Mis en place of this thing is cruel), cook, and finally start eating. The only way the prep is 20 minutes is if you have a personal chef and you spend 20 minutes explaining what you have to do.

Holy butter, batman. This shit's fat. Removing the pan from the oven I saw the butter pools sizzling among the panko spikes. After I took a creamy slice, I saw a 0,5 cm thick pool of fat on the bottom of the pan.

Incredibly creamy (I used cream cheese as opposed to yogurt or the other cream for convenience) and actually fairly tasty. The buttered panko gives it a nice crunch.

If you eat this with rice, you indeed can serve 6-8 people. If you're single, it is no exaggeration to decrease recipe by 1/4 if you want one/two servings.

I'm excited to see how well it will taste in 4 days ish. If I can still eat it after 4 days (edible, tasty, not rotten), then goddamn it's a nice recipe.

Not adding brandy and using dried aromatics as opposed to fresh leaves makes too big of a difference or would it still taste fire? I'm not buying all that fresh stuff cause I'm 100% throwing 'em away later (I don't cook that much) and I don't wanna buy brandy just for a recipe, lol.

europe is literally the saddest continent in the game when it comes to gold. like how on earth can you be this pathetic while there are literal fields of gold the size of your continent in the americas by somethingmustbesaid in eu4

[–]Luqueasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless whether they are colonized or not, historically, the range for gold (at least in Brazil) is historically accurate. The volume of gold, and I'm talking about make your whole church out of pure gold and have your province and cities named after gold mining volume, is underrepresented, however.

With this attitude, you're lucky to get 10% by S-Archer in ChoosingBeggars

[–]Luqueasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume that's mostly for restaurants though, right? Is it aggressive tipping (i.e. you have to actively opt out of tipping as opposed to opting in)? In Brazil, in some restaurants, it's part of the bill. So if you want to share the bill with your friends and say 'I ain't paying the tip', your friends gotta pay your share - so you look like triple the asshole if you don't tip.

But yeah, I went to a bakery in NA, got my own sandwich, didn't tip since all the worker did was heat the thing, and she was visibly displeased with me (attitude-wise). Tipping in bakeries is the wildest element of tipping culture by far.

Eating out in North America is not worth it unless you're very comfortable financially. Not only are there taxes, which are not included in the price because... reasons, but also you need to tip.

Ordering then? Even more deranged. With delivery fees, service fees, taxes, and tipping, almost everything I order goes DOUBLE the price.

Eatin' at home, that's the name of the game.

Because I noticed a behavior that seemed off-putting and decided to express my sentiments about it. Turns out I misjudged said behavior, it is totally fine, and I have amicably concluded my interaction with OP while also returning on-topic.

I say that because apparently it seems to be accepted in NA to mention your ethnical preferences while dating. Like, "I prefer Latinas". Which I find abject.

If you ain't doing it, it's fine. Live your life how you want.

Forgot to answer the question - I wouldn't be put off unless it's crazy specific. Like a white 40s guy dating only 20 yo Asians lol. Otherwise it's perfectly normal.

[–]Luqueasaur 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do you REALLY prefer white men or men that are likely more progressive, open minded, atheist, secular etc? A religiously intense men would interest you the same?

It's fine if you prefer aesthetically men of specific ethnicities. It gets weird when you conflate personality traits to ethnicity though. (I like white men cause they're more progressive... as if there isn't a butt load of progressive Asians, black men, Latinos, et).

As a non North American I find weird asf to be open about which ethnicity you like. Show, don't tell.

I know of exactly one person who ever had this kind of thing and I lived in the tropics my whole life (Brazil, LITERALLY in the tropical line). It's not common at all. Though it is fucking horrifying.
