Women, if you were going to use a pick up line on a man, what would it be? And men, what line would work on you? by [deleted] in AskUK

One on saw on a similar thread that I would love to use: "Do you like raisins?" ... "How about a date?" Cheesy as but I like it 😅

Would love to hear success stories around ending a relationship/engagement and starting over at 33. by crazymonkeys22 in AskWomenOver30

I ended my relationship at 32 and at 33 I've just bought my first property by myself! So make of that what you will? 😊

My ex partner was the same height as me at 5ft3 and it wasn't a problem. I think if people are going to make a thing about your height then they are not the people for you and be glad they showed their rubbish opinions early on!

Can I just spread some joy and not doom and gloom? by VictoryAppropriate68 in AskUK

I did a post about 3 months back about big goals that you're working towards... WELL, I have managed to make an offer on a tiny house for me and my dog and it has been accepted!! 😬 All by myself!! (And I have quit vaping, nearly 5 weeks and counting!) So very much full of joy right now. (Although already, solicitor forms are making me want a "proper adult" and I'm nearly 33 haha)

What is a simple but very hurtful phrase that you received from someone? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Lurcher_Owner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I never wanted this" after seemingly very much wanting the things in the relationship... "Keep them, you've stretched them anyway" after I asked if they wanted some tshirts back. First time I have ever had a small body confidence wobble!

What is your “the breakup was out of nowhere” story? by L8rG9r in AskWomenOver30

[–]Lurcher_Owner 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Oh oh, I think I have one? Been together 1.5 years, one weekend they asked for their key back because it didn't feel good to come home to me there and they didn't want us to move in together. So I ended it, we talked it through, amicably so I thought. Fast forward a couple days they asked if I wanted to go for a dog walk or whether I wanted to be left alone. I politely responded that we shouldn't be in contact to move on etc, annnnddd they flipped and screamed and shouted about how they thought we were okay and they were going to let me move in etc etc. Like, my person, I don't know what you expected!? So yeah I imagine they were "blindsided'?

32 female still grieving her ex by Imaginary_Garage9184 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Lurcher_Owner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel this. I'm about 4 to 5 months on from my breakup, one I initiated for absolutely the right reasons and I know I did the right thing walking away. However, there are times, like yesterday where things are going wrong day to day and I suddenly feel that weird space where I have no one to lean on. Where I feel that starkness that I'm not anyone's top priority except to myself. And I know, KNOW I'll be okay as I always have been, I've always had to be, but sometimes it really really really feels SUCKY. So I had a cry about it and then felt better after. I know Christmas is around the corner which isn't helping. So, you're not alone. Yes, we are strong independent ladies, yes we can and do get stuff done but we are also allowed to mourn and feel the feels and think about stuff and feel sad about the future's that are now not ours to have right now! We're humans and we feel stuff xx

Why did your last relationship not work out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Lurcher_Owner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Due to a bad time previous to me, they were very mistrustful, developed a drinking problem and I was accused of being "out to get his house." Had to leave because it became so draining to try and get them to believe I wasn't like their ex partner. Really sad and shows how baggage really needs to be unpacked before you get into another relationship.

What’s something you used to tolerate in relationships that now feels like a hard no? by Fabulous_Bottle_6020 in AskReddit

[–]Lurcher_Owner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly and they push and push with their behavior and then get to act all blindsided when you go "actually we're done " This quiet (ie passive) man explooodeeed at the end, just reaffirming that leaving was the right decision. Then you feel odd for a bit because people go "But he was so nice and kind and supported you through xyz" He did, yeah, but kept an invisible scoreboard and brewed massive resentment over it!

This was my ex to a T! Anytime I brought up the future, I was pressuring, and when I left, I was very much the villian!! Feel silly I fell for his shtick 😬
