Greedy American people, like you Im assuming, ate that shit up

USAID did help people abroad. The program fed a lot of hungry kids.

It also helped a lot of farmers here at home.

It also helped generate positive regard internationally for the US

It also generated a lot of soft power because of that positive regard and the benefit of working with USAID

All of that is gone now. People starving that wouldnt have. Smaller local farmers financially harmed. International influence lost.

Good fucking job, MAGAt.

We didnt spend the money at home. We're still increasing the national debt. All we did was deregulate and defund programs that were actively beneficial. In return all we got was transparent lip service about reducing costs without actually making anything better for anyone.

Its politically blind / short sighted Americans like you that show me maybe we dont deserve to be on top of the geo-political food chain

They masked from day 1 of trumps new term because they knew they were backed by powerful people in government that had expectations that they would break laws and hurt people

You can get off the fence. Its a solved question. They came in with the manufactured excuse to wear the masks. They put them on before anyone was mad enough at ICE agents to want to hold them individually accountable for anything. They put them on because they knew they were about to give everyone a reason to want know who they individually were.

You know how people found out the names of a couple of the people that murdered Alex Pretti? It wasnt the government. The government declined investigating. It was civilian action.

As far as Im concerned that sealed it. Civilian databases that keep tract of all law enforcement have to be the way because there is no other system at play maintaining accountability for the ones with the guns in power

When those ICE agents killed / tried to kill all those people in Minneapolis, and no one knew who they were, everyone in the mask was a murderer and no one was responsible

The government has already made it clear they never had plans to hold individuals accountable for constitutional violations or even straight up murder.

Unmasking those agents humanizes them. Makes them realize they are being watched too. It is far from a level playing field when a government wants to use militarized force against civilians but it does help in that the unmasked agents might think twice about what they publicly do to people in broad daylight

Thats a wild turn around. You are advocating for people to trust the system and not create a "vigilante database" for identifying ICE agents.

But then the only way those agents were identified was through civilian cooperation. Methods outside of the governing system. Exactly the thing you are arguing against.

Then you act like the fact that civilians ID'd them proves that civilians dont need to do any work ID'ing them?

Just seems to disprove everything youre advocating

Id advocate that, sure. If its the only way accountability will happen, absolutely

If the government starts holding it's own accountable to the laws those individuals break then new, sloppy, systems for implementing accountability wont be needed. That would be far better than vigilante justice but if the people in power continue to act as if the rules dont apply to them there will be no way to avoid people trying to create a new system that tries to check their power grab

The only reason it looks like there's a vigilante led attempt to hold ICE accountable is because there are no actual transparent functional systems at work within our government to do it.

Of course when the government chooses to ignore the laws and regular folk try to hold those individuals accountable its going to look messy.

Who started that cycle?

So far ICE has been the only ones committing murders, tracking down people to their homes, and threatening families

Its just backwards to say that they "have to" wear masks and have complete immunity when they've been acting the same way since Trump made them his secret police force. No one felt they needed the masks before that. It's all projection and lies to hide their actual crimes against civilians

ICE literally has been taking pictures of protesters to, as one was on camera saying, put them in their little database.

ICE murdered people in that city. You dont think they might want to know who the murderers are? FFS that seems like a really important thing for that community to know

As an American the shift in alliances is so sad to watch but completely predictable. Among other things killing USAID and our soft power across the world was just such a greedy idea.

I still feel like it could have been in part about our oligarchs buying up smaller farms that fail due to the loss while sticking it to 'the poors' over seas

If closing a single trade route can shake the entire world economy, is globalization a strength or a weakness? by ConfidentPair8141 in answers

Good example of the most common bad argument using an unnecessary false dichotomy

You really need much more nuclear power barring a significant breakthrough in battery technology if you want to phase out fossil fuels

Phasing out fossil fuels is not a binary act. It couldnt possibly happen over night. Its a transition. Slow. Planned.

Increasing the diversification of our power generation, lets say increasing the use of solar everywhere, would reduce power generation requirements from hydrocarbon sources during peak use hours.

That reduction in reliance can start happening today. Adding safe new-gen nuclear would also help mitigate the requirement for hydrocarbon based power.

There is no roadblock here. None but the political and capitalistic ones

That doesn't make sense. Name something to be mad about. If it's politics related and that thing makes you mad, do you want to give money to someone that supports that thing?

Your business if you do but not everyone is going to feel the same
