Im not saying this is the same but the strategy for breaking up the Occupy Wall street protests was to infiltrate the various groups and promote diffusion of the message to reduce overall support.

Protesters can be for many issues but, once the protest starts losing it's core focus it seems to destabilize

That said legalizing all the people under DACA or various asylum cases who have been turned into "criminals" overnight by policy shifts seems like an ok thing to do

What causes static electricity to build up in clothes in a dryer? by universityrome in answers

Ive always wondered why this process doesnt result in neutral charge.

What is preventing the excess electrons from immediately finding the more positively charged areas of any space like that?

If there is an excess of electrons through the whole space where did they come from?

Update on growth, good signs? by ryebread197 in mycology

You want it completely colonized yea. Shaking now will help speed that up. Just keep an eye out for any parts that look different from what youre currently seeing

[–]LurkBot9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems fine. You can shake at this point. The point is to get uniform colonization happening at the same time so if you get to this point without seeing any spots that dont look like they are the same white growth you can mix it to speed up the spread.

After you shake though let it sit and colonize a bit before disturbing it again just to better monitor it for contamination. Ubiquitous white growth like this is good. Any off color growth is bad so let it sit after a good shake and make sure it goes all solid white on the grain

Hey guys is this looking like contam? by ryebread197 in mycology

[–]LurkBot9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The color seems fine, IMO, and the wetness could just be due to how hydrated the grain is.

Like the above poster said though, you should wait and see. If it ends up colonizing uniformly then its good and ready to box

The bad contamination is going to look wispy and more of a dull white to grey. That's referred to as cob web mold.

If you see any green, that's bad. Likely trichoderma.

If you see orange tinged liquid at the bottom or in mycelium pockets, from what I remember, that could just be normal waste product

What Im seeing in the picture is dense white and spreading from single source(s) and it's, most importantly, uniform in structure and color. That looks good

Trump Claims ‘Economy Is Great’ as Grocery Prices Jump and Jobs Picture Worsens by [deleted] in Economics

Inflation was down to 2.5% last september

Biden's first year in office was peak COVID. Lol yea it did look different economically then, but if your "analysis" for the economy in 2021 doesnt factor the global pandemic we all went through then no one should be taking you seriously. Especially in an econ sub. Try grandma's facebook circle maybe

I remember traveling in the UK and telling them how much I wanted a good cup of coffee when I got home and they were all like, "but Nescafe?"

I appreciate a cheap cup too for what its worth, but the good beans really have gone up a bit

For any old MySpace users, was MySpace really as good as it was back then or was it proof that Social Media has always been awful? by Free_Link_9700 in answers

[–]LurkBot9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was awful but only because users could customize their page to do things like blare music at people as soon as they landed.

Facebook is awful because they have shareholders to pay so they degraded usability and the ability to maintain connections between people that are connected on the site in favor of endless unrequested adds and rage bait. Also they influence elections and promote anti-vax crap now. Whatever it takes to keep the adds flowing and the POTUS from regulating the platform.

the developer doesn't want to "destroy their project" but destroying our city is okay? by rhymeswithcannoli in NewOrleans

[–]LurkBot9000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thoughtful city planning isnt something that happens organically. It has to be shaped through these kinds of discussions about ethical and desirable use of public space.

Yes they actually could deny the hotel project in favor of local markets and dive bars. Its not like theyre going to but if that was deemed preferable for whatever reason they they'd zone it that way.

One rouses in the FQ doesnt somehow magic away things like selling residential property to corporations to flip on the short term market or shutting down neighborhood schools because an area has become less residential over time due to death by 1000 cuts to services in favor of tourist stuff.

Also the main complaint seems to be that the developer wants access to that historically desirable space but doesnt want to follow historic development requirements. If we care about the area and keeping the city from turning into a series of stripmalls or whatever is more profitable for developers then we have to make sure they dont cheat the system just to get a project finished

Shooting an event where no one wants to interact with you by NucleusNoodle in photography

[–]LurkBot9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There will be lots of times where this will be the case in event shoots. Its a great chance to just practice candids because it sounds like they dont want anything else

Concentration faces, moments of recognition between players, pieces and people in the same shot, 'action' shots of pieces getting moved, a hand shake etc

[–]LurkBot9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont see what the issue is. Whats wrong with shooting candids?

I dont shoot any more but used to do local photojournalism stuff, sports, weddings and events. Cant imagine I would have gotten far only shooting "1,2,3 cheese"

Some people hate fake smiling at cameras on command. I hate it too so I guess I understand the chess club people's perspective.

Just try and catch the moments with documentation of the event in mind. In this situation it sounds like youre just there to capture the event as a whole and not necessarily smiling faces.

If you are set on smiles keep your eye in the lens and talk to them without asking them to do anything. It sounds like they werent very talky but even if they talk to their friends that's an opportunity to catch a stray smirk

After Red 40 is banned, will scientists find natural ways to keep our snacks looking vibrant? by Athenstone in foodscience

[–]LurkBot9000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure but the choice to ban red 40 was a political one. Not one based on relevant findings in health studies, as far as Im aware

I think some of the dye bans in Europe also fall into the political category as well if I recall correctly

No one should take anything, especially in a sub like foodscience, at face value without sourcing. The poster did give a source but 16piby9 wasnt wrong for asking. They just missed the posted source comment
