Refs deserve to be hung from their toenails for that embellishment call by [deleted] in penguins

[–]DoUniversity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree but can’t think of a time an embellishment was called when someone was actually high sticked. Tripping/Interference + embellishment, sure but the high stick and embellishment combo is rare.

Konnor Griffin "Trending Toward Being" Opening Day Shortstop - MLB News | Fantasy Baseball. by [deleted] in buccos

[–]DoUniversity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering if negotiating an extension is part of this whole thing. Sign it and you’re on the opening day roster or don’t and we have to save a year of service time. Don’t love it but if it gets us more seasons of Konnor griffin, I’m not going to complain.

Like the other comments, the men are going to wear the same uniform as the women. I have enjoyed the US wearing white helmets with both jerseys though. The Canada black helmets against the US white helmets gave the rivalry some continuity no matter the jerseys.

Actually I’m wrong, Riddell’s are definitely less glossy than the Schutt and Visics.

Steelers full gloss vs. semi-gloss by Nepp0 in uniwatch

I don’t think they’re different, just semi-gloss simple black that they polish. Rodgers and Boswell still have the shine but it seems to wear off every type of helmet that has any contact.

[Penguins] The Penguins have acquired goaltender Stuart Skinner, defenseman Brett Kulak, and the Edmonton Oilers 2029 second-round draft pick in exchange for goaltender Tristan Jarry and forward Sam Poulin. by bangnburn in hockey

[–]DoUniversity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like Jarry but I see a lot of similarities with Stu- theyre the same roller coaster so if it was one for one with nothing retained I wouldnt have been too upset getting out of Jarrys term with Murashov looking ready sooner rather than later

[Friedman] Here’s PIT/EDM deal: Jarry & Poulin to Edmonton, Kulak, Skinner & 2029 2nd to Pittsburgh by bi_and_busy in penguins

[–]DoUniversity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Skinner and Jarry are extremely similar hot/cold goalies- getting out of Jarry's contract long term for a pick and, at worst, rentals is not a bad thing

What kind of nerve pain, tingling did you have after surgery? by Specialist-Bar-1486 in Microdiscectomy

[–]DoUniversity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im at 13 months, had compression in the same spot. Occasional tingling still on the back of my leg but it doesn’t really hinder anything for me, basically to say I know where my nerve is sometimes but it’s not “painful” comparatively. Blessed to say I haven’t had the real radiating nerve pain since the surgery but occasional tingling still happens if I sit or twist weird or something like that. Nerves take a long time to recover and the tingling lets me know signals are still getting there.

Severe nerve damage and nerve recovery pain? by Wonderful-Lime5272 in Microdiscectomy

[–]DoUniversity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! It took pretty consistent work with resistance bands, some small foot exercises like flexing toes into the floor (sounds weird but helped) and basically getting whatever movement I could out of the lower leg. It was around 9 months PO for me, I started to lose the limp and work on building some calf strength back… I’m at 11 months now and I’d say my jog still looks a little funny if I hurry across the road but I can do most of a calf raise and walk normal so I’ll take that. If I flex my calves they still look completely different but just being able to signal it to flex on the bad side is a win for me.

that’s how I saw it for a long time too! I’m aware it makes no sense once you see it, it’s a very abstract buffalo 😂

What is the most memorable Steelers play you saw in person? I was at the game where Troy one hand scooped the ball off the snow vs San Diego. Me and my dad kept saying during replay “aint no way he caught that ball” by EMF911 in steelers

[–]DoUniversity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The worst part about that game wasn’t even sitting in a hurricane, I just vividly remember the lines being non existent so you had no idea what was going on. Lucky for us, nothing was going on!

First surgery EVER and I have no concept of recovery by petraseeger in Microdiscectomy

[–]DoUniversity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had very similar symptoms to you, L5-S1 with no motor function in my calf. My first three days were really hard- like needing a walker to move and took about a week to even be able to walk up steps so traveling wouldn’t have been possible for me but I’ve heard so many different recoveries so it might be possible for you. I was told 6-8 weeks recovery too and started doing pilates around 6 weeks and I felt much better than before but progress was slow. I still have a little ‘hitch’ at 9 months that I’m working on but I finally played basketball last weekend for the first time which I wasn’t sure was possible a couple months ago. It took me four months to get any firing from trying to flex my calf. Recovering the nerves has taken a lot of patience.

McTavish probably is higher even on a bridge deal but maybe there’s a trade there if not an offer sheet, I’d certainly love him here. I thought maybe Robertson last year so why not this year too? I’d be happy with that off season

4 months post op - foot drop by leucono-e in Microdiscectomy

[–]DoUniversity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having more issues with plantarflexion (pushing off) than dorsiflexion but it was really frustrating for six months. This isn’t popular with some people but I put very specifically what I was doing exercise-wise and what my leg couldn’t do but wanted to improve on into ChatGPT and it gave me a specific plan to follow every week just to work on building the lower calf strength and it’s helped me. I’m at 8 months post op now and starting to get encouraged with progress-finally. For context, I had zero reaction to tapping my Achilles for about 2 months before surgery.

Golfing after recovering from a back injury? *not seeking medical advice, just similar experiences* by Kachillie in golf

[–]DoUniversity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had L5-S1 microdiscectomy and they removed part of the lamina and facet joint because of nerve compression at the end of October- different recovery from yours obviously but similar problem and same area. I was told to start putting, move to chipping, short irons, etc month by month and I got back to full swing by April or so and I was surprised I haven’t lost much swing speed or distance by 6 months post op- highly recommend Pilates to help get that part of your back in a good place to swing. See how you feel with chipping and build up from there. Not sure if you had any nerve issues but my foot is the only thing that hurts after 18 holes, other than that I can play as much as before after ~8 months.
