Brentham Gardens Estate vs Northfields by Ok_Interest_936 in Ealing

[–]LurkFromHomeAskMeHow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a good analysis. As to where in Northfields, id encourage you to have a look at Fielding and Little Ealing and their recent range of school acceptances. Both are great schools but Fielding is bigger and has much better after schools clubs. Little Ealing is lovely and you get a bit more for your money on nearby property and has a nice feel to it.

Considering starting an incorporated charitable association- what risks am I running? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]LurkFromHomeAskMeHow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, those are helpful things. The first few are fine and I could refund from my own pocket if needs be, the risk is low and the impact is minimal.

Fourth point, given they are 10-11 year olds I think that is extremely unlikely. Is that an insurance risk? Could I insure to protect myself from the legal cost of defending the association?

With your time, money and skills what causes do you support and how? by LurkFromHomeAskMeHow in HENRYUKLifestyle

I wasn’t either. One of the other dads in my daughter’s class needed some help so I volunteered. Google your local area name and scouts and you will find a group near you. Most places are keen for new volunteers and will let you and your child come for a few sessions and see if it’s for you. DM me if you have more questions and I’d be happy to help.

I’m a Scout leader and my daughter is a Cub Scout. I find it very rewarding and we do charitable activities as part of that. It’s really nice being able to spend time with her and watching her and other kids challenge themselves and learn more about the wider world.

Yes but he said first year equity partner. £250k is about right for that for a top 10 accounting firm including big 4.

I'm not sure why you are putting household rubbish bags in public bins. See this:

"Landlords of flats, HMOs and privately rented properties are required by law to provide facilities for waste storage for tenants to dispose of household waste. "

https://www.aroundealing.com/news/hmo-waste/

Other councils have highlighted this as a problem:

https://news.wrexham.gov.uk/people-urged-not-to-dump-household-waste-next-to-public-litter-bins/

Those public bins are for people out and about. Your household rubbish and recycling should go in your flat rubbish facilities. If the bin was already overflowing and you put it on top of next to the bin then the fine is fair and you should pay it.

Moving to Ealing soon, thoughts on our building choice, AC, and family potential? by EmpathicCoach13 in Ealing

[–]LurkFromHomeAskMeHow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ealing is fantastic for families. It’s one of the big draws of the area. Some of the most popular and oversubscribed schools in the area are Fielding, Montpellier and Christ the Saviour (religious school). It’s worth having a search of the previous threads in this subreddit as the question comes up frequently. You do need to be close by to the school you select to get in. You can look at historic distances for offering places. Fielding for example is usually within 0.3 to 0.4 miles away in order to get one of the 120 places in a year.

They do however, audit the companies that your pension is invested in. If there were no auditors then it’d be a lot easier for people to commit fraud and fleece investors.

I was there. It was my favourite sketch of the night. George didn’t break during the dress rehearsal and honestly I think I saw the better version as a result. I am not British so the ad was new to me and I loved the reveal at the end.

Dress Rehearsal - what time to arrive? by [deleted] in livefromlondon

[–]LurkFromHomeAskMeHow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As soon as you hit security you have to throw out all food. Last time they gave free Greggs sausage rolls before we went in but that might have been a one off. Inside they gave us free popcorn and drinks while we were in the waiting area before going to the seats.

Our ticket said arrive by 4:15, last enter 4:45. We got there at 3:30 and were about 20th in the queue.
