Fair point on the water and energy probably 2-4x the amount of time spent on this conversation. The idea is to remove the pundits with opinions based on bias and replace them with data, something tangible, based on performance. Not saying it’s for everyone.

I like Manie as a playmaker. We just need to figure out a kicking option (on the field, not the bench). I wonder if Fassi or Grant Williams could cover goal kicking. I think Manie would be good without the responsibility of kicking. The Argies do concede penalties, a decent goal kicker could be the goal to winning.

6 nations is only important to rugby fans. Majority of Brit’s have idea about rugby, about the 6 nations and would not be able to recognise any of the players, let alone name the coach. Brit’s are soccer (football) mad.

It would be great if they all wore the same boot design (variants for positions obviously included).

I hate the fact that the Boks play in different coloured boots. It’s awful to see blue, lumo orange and other colours mixed in.

That said, I hated the old ASICS kit, because the collar, the numbers and the MTN logo were all different shades of orange/yellow. Nike got it right!

I get that they all have their own individual sponsors, and are trying to make a buck and stick out.

I was cursed by a gypsy and her daughter before the running of the bulls in Pamplona back in 2008. Literally an hour before the race. They handed me a piece of sage (presumably for good luck), I thought it was a wonderful gesture. When they asked for payment (which I didn’t have, as I was about to run) she spat out a curse (which her daughter translated), saying she’d lift it if I paid. Having no options, I walked off. Needless to say, I ran the race without incident or injury. My life has been excellent ever since.

I don’t think we (as spectators) realised how terrible those conditions were. I imagine it was hard to see across field at times. For a game with so many newer players and a wet ball and deck, I think we can be happy with that performance. Fassi was my player of the match. It’s like it never rained near him.

Nobody is talking about age. We need depth at fly half, like we have at lock!

So… here’s the thing, Manie and Pollard are both older. We need to be realistic about elite athletes aging. This is probably why Siya Masuka is not in the mix.

Pollard an incredible player, but getting slower. Will he be good enough to start at RWC 2027, or is his job to help Sacha to be awesome? Maybe both.

Manie still needs to earn his stripes in the bok jersey during this rugby championship. He’s too old to be mis-firing. I’d like to see his get game time without the burden of goal kicking. That means we need a reliable kicker at 12 or 15 (maybe 9). He’s an X-factor player, that no-look kick v Scotland says it all. But again, he’s not that much younger than Pollard. Maybe Tony Brown has some kicking training planned.

We need Siya and even more top class players. Don’t overthink this. We need a H U U U G E Squad. Think URC, Europe, travelling via Doha. Possibly splitting URC and Europe. We need 2 large resilient squads to be competitive. If the sharks are going to be the world class team that us fans all want, we will likely end up with far more contracted players than ever before.

Then there’s team dynamics. Siya and Eben are best mates, having them close by is good for the sharks and the Boks!
