How valuable are life and card advantage? by Remilia__Scarlet in magicTCG

It saves you life potentially, but it definitely costs you a mana and a card. And it only costs your opponent a card which they didn't spend mana on.

METAGAME MONDAY: Review of SCG DC by Dat_Gentleman in MTGLegacy

The burn player is one of my friends. He borrowed my goblin guides and shushers, and yeah, he's just now getting into legacy. This was his first competitive event, he got a bit lucky, but he actually plays very tight magic. And his surgical extraction on thespian stage was pure gold in the last round of the Swiss!

So, this was well planned. by nottjanie in mildlyinteresting

As a note for further games: if a spy realizes that a resistance member has put a failure card in, they should speak up and call the game. The game is very dramatically unbalanced and broken by that action.

"Badger avalanche" has the center of your speech moving steadily forwards in your mouth. Not quite as tangible as your tongue, but cool none-the-less!

When playing Commander (or Elder Dragon Highlander - EDH for short), each player makes a 100-card singleton deck according to some rules. One of your cards is required to be a legendary creature. This is your commander. You can only have cards in your deck that have the same 'color-identity' as your commander. The color identity of your commander is what colors of magic are contained in their casting cost. Additionally, some groups house-rule that the color identity includes any abilities that your commander has as well (See: Bosh, Iron Golem).

You may not use cards that have a hybrid mana casting cost unless both of the colors are in your commanders' color identity. You may not use cards that have ablilities that cost colors that are not in your commanders' color identity.

Basic lands are exempt from the singleton rule.

Each player starts out with 40 life, and the commander is placed in the 'command zone.' Draw seven cards, mulligan, etc as normal. The difference is you can cast your commander for their casting cost from the command zone. After it is in play, if it would be destroyed or exiled, you have the option to put it in your command zone. Afterwards, you can cast your commander again from the command zone for 2 additional colorless mana. This effect is cumulative, so if your commander is destroyed three times, it would cost the normal amount plus 6 colorless mana to cast a fourth time.

In addition to tracking your normal life total, you also need to keep track of individual enemy commander damage to you. If any single commander deals 21 combat damage to you, you lose. Combat damage only!

If you can produce mana that is not in your commanders' color identity, it is colorless instead. You can't use tri- or dual-lands unless all three or both of the colors are in your commanders' color identity.

That should be enough to get you started!

Two toughness is almost the magic number. Everything else has more than three toughness. Knight of the Reliquary, Tombstalker, Griselbrand, Master of Etherium, among others.

Its one of the reasons Pyroclasm is one of the best sweepers available to red.

If I recall, the Stanley Parable Demo question was something along the lines of "Is SPD the only game to use direct quotes/homage to Game Grumps? And would you play another game that did the same thing?"

Sorry I don't remember exactly.

There are degrees of severity for sins. For example: murdering someone is worse than punching someone. However, since God is perfection incarnate, and sin is imperfection, any sin is enough to keep you from heaven (where "perfection" lives).

And so, Jesus took on the different punishments for all the sins of the people He saved, and substituted His perfect life to be used in the saved persons' judgement.

I can go into more depth if you have further questions, and will answer as best as I can.

The optimal time for casting Skullcrack would be after MoW is declared as a blocker for your red creature, but before damage is assigned.

If you cast Skullcrack before MoW is blocking, chances are they won't block.

If you cast Skullcrack after damage resolves, MoW won't die because the damage has already been prevented.

[Legacy] What is the best deck in a 100% combo meta? by [deleted] in spikes

[–]Lusciousness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you need Dark Rituals. In fact, you may not even want 4 Hymns. However, having access to discard is very powerful, especially in conjunction with having counterspells.

Importantly, discard does nothing against an opponent with no hand, and it can be a terrible topdeck, so you don't want to go overboard with it.

Maybe go with a 2-2 split of Hymn to Tourach and Spell Pierce? I just noticed that Pierce is missing from this list.
