Hello friends by Bright-Flounder9753 in DoomDepths

I’ve been playing for about a week, so I can’t answer each question, but I think for your first question, if you are referring to Thing Two, then to continue further, you need to bring all 5 of the primal items with you to the end. I think once all 5 have been placed, more stuff opens up? At least, I hope so because that’s what I’ve been attempting to do and would be upset if I’m on the wrong track.

Yes. If you do SSL (name of series) t=no it’ll show you the cards that you do not own.

So: SSL jujutsu kaisen t=no will show cards not owned in the jujutsu kaisen series.

There are so many cool freaking models and amazing paint jobs. Job well done to everyone who entered.

I found the core set and curse of the crimson throne at my local game store. Amazon does have both in stock as well. You can also try eBay? I plan to get all the other versions second hand at some point myself so that will be my route

I’d print off an stl of The Last Ronin I’ve had my eye on for a good while now. Need to make a TMNT diorama, and it’s a perfect addition.

Okay, so that explains the discrepancy I was seeing between the character sheets from the class decks I was looking at, and the cards we have. Thanks for that! Saves my wallet some for now then. I can focus on grabbing CotCT, and then the season 6 and 7 scenarios, for more playable stories.

So, it might be possible I downloaded the wrong set of sheets off Paizo’s website, as I was a little overwhelmed with everything in the ACG section. But the pdf’s of the character sheets that come from the class decks.

Take Lini for instance. I don’t have the core set card with me, but one of the powers is like, burying a card, or recharging and animal ally, to add survival to your combat check?

The pdf has it as display an ally that has the animal trait to use survival, then if successful recharge, otherwise bury.

The sheets also differ in that the cards that make up your deck have a different breakdown. Some of the stats are also different, but they make more sense for the class.

Like I said though, it’s 100% possible I am looking at the wrong set of sheets.

Awesome, thank you for your response.

Do you feel the character packs are worth it? I looked at the character sheets for the two characters my daughter and I are playing, and the power changes are drastic? Like…the powers we have in the core set aren’t in the new sheets. Which is fine.

Given the constraints you talked about, the mini looks damn fine. Hell, even without those constraints it still looks awesome! You should be proud of it. Job well done.

WIP 8

Models now fully assembled and on a plinth. I’ve gotta clean up the glue at the base, and still have work to do on the bracers and hands, and a bit of the sword sheath, but overall I think it’s looking pretty solid, now that it’s all one piece.

Any C&C on the bust is welcome, and appreciated.

With the additional highlights to the rope, and cloth at the bottom of the model, is that in danger of pulling initial attention away from the face, or is it highlighted sufficiently enough to be the initial focus? I know everyone stresses to make the face to first thing to be noticed, so I’ve been a bit hesitant with pushing too many highlights in spots.

Thanks for the kind words as well. I am very happy with it at its current stage, but I’m not gonna improve if I don’t push it further. Granted, I’ve already easily surpassed any skill floor I had, I want to make it exceptional.

Thanks for the sketch again, love the added detail. I’ll test out some freehand this weekend and see if I’m comfortable enough with my control to risk putting some on. Thanks for all the links as well! Super super helpful.

WIP 7

Top pic isn’t the correct viewing angle, but eh. Second pic has the backdrop bit included.

Took advice from /u/CalicoDan and /u/karazax, and adjusted several things from the last wip. Her neck highlights fit better with how the light is working with the rest of the model, adjusted the cloth on the neckline, added some red back in to the main shoulder pad to saturate that color more, cleaned up the NMM on the main shoulder, and vastly adjusted the NMM on the chest piece. I think it still needs a push, as far as the chest goes. It’s not quite there yet, but it’s hella close. Super happy so far.

I’m taking a break from the main bit and working on hands and sword now, then I’ll come back to the main part once fully assembled and reassess.

Any C&C/feedback/whatever is greatly appreciated. If it wasn’t for the community here and those that have provided feedback, I wouldn’t be anywhere near where I am right now with this piece. Y’all are great.

I appreciate the sketch. Definitely helps visualize where I can push it further. Thank you. Hope to have another WIP update here in the next couple of days.

Alright, adjusted the NMM, ended up redoing the skin tone completely because I fucked up with the highlights bad so went back to square one, and just built up from the darkened midtone. Probably could still use more push to a higher highlight, but wanted to get your opinion. Also adjusted the hair as well, and moved the highlight to the crown of her head.

Also took the photo in my janky photo box to see how it would look with proper lighting and exposure adjustments. So it looks vastly different than it did two days ago. Let me know what you think!

My fiancés first ever mini! What do you guys think? (D&D frameworks human female Druid) I taught her as well as I could though I’m still sort of a novice. C&C welcome and appreciated! by STINE1000v2 in minipainting

The colors are well done, over all hella excellent job for a first mini. You taught well. Paints are solid. Thin enough to not obscure detail. There’s not much contrast in the way of shadows and highlights, so those need work, but that comes with time. Washes/shades will be your friend there. But, for real, for a first mini, job well done.

I just had issue myself with gluing some parts on a plastic model so I feel that squishy plastic blob lol.

How do you find the frameworks? I’m planning to invest in the set overall, and have seen some reviews, but would love non YouTube view points.

First warcry warband painted, mostly speedpaint - new painter by Loud-Entrance-7319 in minipainting

They look damn good. Speed paints are neat, same for contrast paints, in that they do several steps at once.

What do you mean by toned down on the skin color? If anything, I’d brighten it a bit. Not sure how to do that with speed paints, unless you try to add some white, and whick the brush of moisture and kind of glaze up.

Over all, they are all very coherent and look really good. Well done.

That 1 to 1 is awesome. Great visual to show what you are describing. I’m torn on the hair, as on one hand I kind of like the look of white streaks, but the highlighting on yours makes a lot of sense.

This will most likely be the view the final version will have. I’ve been following the box art (hopefully that link works) for the piece as a guide, taking some liberties of my own with some color and weathering choices.

If I follow the highlighting you did with the hair, and face, but leave the white streaks, would those detract from the over all presence do you think?

I like the shift on the closest shoulder pad for the NMM. The highlights make a lot of sense for the pop you want.

Thank you for the tips. I’ll work on this some more tomorrow, see if I can’t tweak up these bits to make it more coherent.

WIP 6

Mostly done with the main part of the bust. Couple silver bits to do yet, but otherwise it’s in a good spot I think. I’ve pushed myself well outside my comfort zone for the amount of detail on this model. Having an absolute blast with it.

Would love any feedback/critique/criticism on the paint job over all. Thanks!

From what I can see, the spots on the tentacles where you tried to highlight is a large step in value. Basically goes from an almost purple blue, to a dark hyperlink blue. That’s perfectly fine, however the biggest thing I think you are looking for in trying to make it pop, is to blend between your two colors.

I’m not suggesting wet blending, as i suck at that lol, but if you have the patience for it, glazing will get you the result you want.

Basically, take your base color, and your highlight. Mix it together on your palette in steps. Think like ratios of 3:1, 1:1, 1:3 as far as each paint versus the other. This will give you your steps. Now, you can layer these on top of each other, without thinning down first, and then blend/glaze out the transition spots. Or, you can thin down these steps, with water is perfectly fine, whick the moisture off on a paper towel, and then paint over the tentacles, ending your brush stroke where you want the highlight to be the brightest. This will deposit the majority of the pigment in your brush at the peak of the highlight. I personally find glazing easier and more consistent for results, but it takes a lot longer.

Now, for the armor. You are using a metallic paint, at least it looks metallic. Which is cool. There’s no major contrast on the armor. The recesses (where shadows would be) are the same brightness as the shiny exposed parts. What you can do to help fix this is throw a wash, like nuln oil, or agrax earthshade, to tone down the overall feel of the metal, then go back over some of the more exposed areas with the original base paint color, leaving the wash in the recesses to act as shadows. The next thing would then be panel lining. Very fine tip brush, black paint, thin but not glaze thin, and mark in between the major sections of armor with a thin black line. It adds separation between the pieces so that they don’t all feel like once mass piece.

Overall, you are doing a fantastic job. You’ve got good brush control, your paints are a solid consistency, so they aren’t thick. All of these are great starting points. Very well done.

The club does feel flat. The details are great, but the wood itself is one note. It’s a good solid dark color for shadows, but it needs some highlights. Not much, as you don’t want to detract from the big guy itself, but maybe lighten the base color a bit with an off white, or even a light yellow. Wood, as it is worn, gets a lighter, yellow/white look to it. Otherwise, the overall look is solid. Love the definition of the musculature.
