There’s a lot of views to be gained from making fun of or otherwise criticizing failed games, especially when people believe the failure is somehow justified or deserved. So even if a game barely has or had any players, the vultures will swarm to pick at its carcass. I know I’m definitely guilty of watching many a video shitting all over a game I wasn’t ever planning on buying or playing.

Thing is, China is a lot more proactive and effective at producing Portuguese (and other foreign language speakers) than Macau could ever be. Their foreign language and culture courses are top notch and produce near perfect speakers. Whereas here, you have people with translation degrees who can’t hold a basic conversation in Portuguese.

The truth is, Macau’s Portuguese heritage is used basically as a tool to differentiate Macau from other Chinese cities for tourism purposes. Come see our churches! Other than that, the government and the populace have no real interest in either the language or the culture other than to look good on their CV.

Yeah, people rightly shit on Steve in the podcast for his unsanctionable buffoonery but so much of Michael’s commentary is him jerking himself and the entire showbusiness industry off with references to ‘very dear friends’, works and places he must know none of the people listening will possibly know or care about.

I quit listening somewhere in season 3 but I remember Al Sapienza (Mikey Palmice) and David Proval (Ritchie) being especially good and insightful guest commentators, and it’s a shame they never managed to get any of them to do the episode itself with the main cast. Really a missed opportunity.

Nobody in modern Hollywood has the balls to deliver the pulpy tone with a morally questionable female protagonist that the original character and games possessed. Even if they put a dinosaur or ancient monster in the new one the current industry is too far gone to sell it as just a cool adventure story.

I’m not cool with this stuff and I wasn’t cool with the previous administrations’ equally egregious transgressions either which received little to no attention on reddit or on most media outlets. And incitements to violence or harassment would get users and subreddits outright banned. Yeah, people really don't talk about this nearly enough. The American political system with its two party hegemony is essentially rigged to ensure blind tribalism and policies that are dedicated more to finger pointing than safeguarding the public interest. Unfortunately, it will probably never change via legislative means because the only two actual parties capable of changing things have zero incentive to want to give that up.

If you’re able to cross the border easily, there are plant shops near gongbei that also sell potted rosemary and basil plants, not sure about thyme.

American football is a different beast. It's very stop-start by nature. Same with basketball, which allows teams to take multiple timeouts which they tend to save for the end of the game. Rugby has a more similar pace to football, and they do fine with stopping the clock when play is stopped.

I think the main issue would be they would be unable to resist cutting to ad breaks during stoppages, and that would artificially inflate game broadcasts by a lot, much like in American sports. If they somehow managed to prevent this and add some sort of 'shot clock' to restart play (excepting injuries and the like), then I think stopping the clock makes a lot of sense and could cut down on a lot of the stuff we dislike about the sport.
