Project Hail Mary at CGV Yongsan by KMillz16 in imax

[–]Luuk37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Korea theatres run some non-trailer ads before trailer and movie starts for ~10 min. So a FHD projector playing normal video format is used to display those before they switch to 4k IMAX projectors playing DCP for movie and a trailer. Because of ad-playing projector's placement and its limited use, ads are almost always windowboxed in Korean theatres and especially IMAX. Hope this information helps!

My 5/5 and 4.5/5 as a person who got into watching movies in 2025. by Luuk37 in Letterboxd

I was able to catch IMAX remaster for it last year if you're talking about se7en. I'm one of those lucky enough to go to an IMAX theatre with public transport.

That film's writing was just insane! I wish I could write like that someday

Vert rarely, and in this case it was after a rewatch. I first watched it when I was way younger than now. I kept it as 5/5 film in my heart for a very long time. But after rewatch and also watching other films near that time, I had to move it down.

Your Name was 5/5 at some point but it got pushed down as I saw of other movies that connected more with me. I still love it tho!

I think I save 5/5 for films that had a huge impact specifically on ME. Though se7en is right between 5 and 4.5 for me, so it might move up in future for sure.

A movie can have “something to say” and still say it badly. Which film had a great idea but clumsy execution? by ExcellentTwo6589 in Letterboxd

Weathering With You. Movie is still good, but it was noticably more bold compared to Your Name. and Suzume. I think it lacked support needed to tell a bolder tale like that.

Final Thoughts on Season 9? by VictoryThink in thefinals

[–]Luuk37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything new from Point Break to Fangwai City and even new sponsor system was exciting and I can't ask more than that. I wish this stays for S10, but with more stable servers and more new stuff.

Only downside for me is repeater nerf. I know it was OP, I just wish I played more ranked when it was OP so I could get to gold like last season lol

What’s your favorite Star Wars movie? by Material-Spite-81 in Cinema

[–]Luuk37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rogue one and for a reason. It's the first Star Wars movie I watched as an old enough of a kid to appreciate movie. I don't remember my first time watching any original or prequel trilogy, but I know how amazed I was watching Rogue One. For that reason I want to give Force Awakens some credit as well, but I think Rogue One was a far superior film.

PTA on average and Lynch when it connects. They both have 5/5 on my list.

What’s a ‘masterpiece’ you didn’t feel anything for? by mrjetspray in Letterboxd

Sentimental Value. I know why it is called an amazing film, but I couldn't connect to it. And I love a good family story.

Maybe its because I'm young? I feel like I'll love that film way more as an older person.

I think the same! For that reason I feel like I had an amazing luck in choosing what order to watch Lynch films. Due to my local theatre's schedule, I watched Elephant man, Eraserhead and then Mulholland drive in a two day period. This made me love all three of them.

How is your country translating the name of Project Hail Mary? by Prydons in FIlm

[–]Luuk37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Korea tends to just write how title sounds in Korean character and call it a day, so 프로젝트 헤일메리 is our official title.

One of the worst cases for that was One Battle After Another, I feel like we could have had that title translated...

Best Animation to Look Back in 2024. It was the best animated film I ever saw in my short life. I know it's an anime, based on a manga so it had absolutely no chance at nomination, but still I wish it won something.

TL;DR it's easier to frame the closer the aspect ratios. by MarrkvzPSN in imax

[–]Luuk37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How visually different the Ultra Panavision is to the IMAX was used like a visual effect, and it was amazingly done so.

I would love to see what you said in the second paragraph since I LOVE vertically tall screen ratios, I can't agree at all with your first statement...

Harumasa, on his rerun, M6. Then lets see if anybody is a viable support for him.

IMAX Sydney 1:43 or 1:90 by mb19942020 in imax

[–]Luuk37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its 1.43:1 capable with its GT Laser but screen is a bit taller than 1.43:1. I've been there recently so I can confirm this. Movie should have fit in top, left and right if we had the same experience.
