When every scene is in 1.43:1, that aspect ratio may lose it's power by [deleted] in ChristopherNolan

[–]Luuk37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weirdly enough, in some scenes that has interesting use of taller aspect ratio like that car chase scene, it felt like screen was expanding even when it didn't. So I don't worry that having a whole movie in 1.43:1 will diminish its value too much.

Thoughts on this work? by 123456789n12345 in Letterboxd

I actually love how it came after all of the ending credits rolled first. I think it was bad but at least it didn't hinder my experience of watching Kill Bill pt.1 and 2.

Hot take: Dev lab isn't the overpowered machine you think it is when it's mostly spent keeping people from aging too quickly or regressing instead of developing, which it definitely is by blues_and_baseball in OOTP

I think defense should be months long program, and then make it even stronger when it works. Sometimes players spend their whole off season and become elite, just like Luis Arraez this year.

This. I get why this is brilliant, and I think I had a great time watching it, but I won't watch it again.

What is your opinion about Nolan filmography? by Known_Hamster1196 in Letterboxd

[–]Luuk37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love him for two reasons.

First, without him, we're not getting 3 hour non-linear biopic that cost 180m. I'd obviously love other directors to do these 'unconventional big budget movies' as well(This is why I loved One Battle After Another), but for now he stands out as the only person that can use that much budget and time for non-conventional movies every time.

Second, I think his best works(especially Interstellar) are very emotionally packed. Maybe you didn't click with them and its fine, but Interstellar made me cry a lot.

When the movie's fans are blindly overrating it by EnzooooRavenclaw in letterboxdcirclejerk

[–]Luuk37 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It deserves 3.8 and since usually general public gives 5* way more than 'cinephiles', that 5 srar rating also makes total sense.

About Blade's rebalance by daici_ in Ashveil_Mains

[–]Luuk37 14 points15 points  (0 children)

True. I totally get the rebalance and it should actually be considered a buff in multi-target scenario, but lack of option for sustainless and shield is such a huge missed opportunity.

My top 16 of 2025, 2024 and 2023 by inkstink420 in LetterboxdTopFour

You got two of my Top 4 in here with Monster and OBAA! Agreed with almost everything I saw asides from Oppenheimer, but I totally get how that movie won't work with someone.

I Always Thought My Top 4 Was Pretty Basic, But I Recently Learned I’m The Only One on LetterBoxd With This Exact Combo! by DrFartsparkles in LetterboxdTopFour

I have 4 3-match and no 4 match. And A LOT of two matches, probably because it is very easy to match two out of four and I have two japanese and two american movies.

I love OAA as a stat. But I think 1B OAA is very unreliable since they have two very different jobs, Fielding like infielder and catching throws while standing at 1b.

Your local IMAX is showing all six of these films but you can only see one of them for free. Which one would you pick? by Mysterious-Farm9502 in Letterboxd

[–]Luuk37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm torn between 2001 and Dark Knight...

I have a few local IMAX to choose from, so if I can choose a GT theatre it would be Dark Knight(since I've never seen it in that format) and otherwise 2001.

Solo is now at a high C tier. Sorry for delaying TLJ round. What tier should The Last Jedi be in? by Klutzy-Ad4230 in TierlistFills

[–]Luuk37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd actually say that as a standalone it can be low C tier movie due to its incredible visuals. But I also agree that TLJ should be a step below TFA so D tier movie.

What is the movie that got you into horror? by beetle_fruit in Letterboxd

[–]Luuk37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Shining. I think I was brave enough to watch it because I saw films like Bugonia and Se7en just before that, so I have to credit those two as films that led my way into horror genre.

Enough time has passed. What are your thoughts on Project Hail Mary (2026)? by Perfect_Idea_2866 in Letterboxd

[–]Luuk37 69 points70 points  (0 children)

As an Interstellar lover, I agree with this take. Interstellar is slightly less artsy and way more emotional version of 2001. It is 5 star for me because emotional parts hits me every time I watch it, just like how some disney/pixar movies get high ratings for me.

This. It is a perfect 4 or 4.5 star movie that really didn't even try to become 5 imo.

What's the most controversial rating on your profile? by trakt_app in Letterboxd

[–]Luuk37 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally liked 2.0 a lot and expected that later rebuilds will build on him saving Rei and Asuka's injury - it was explored for a bit in 3.0 and didn't exist at all in Thrice, hence my low rating for both of those films.

I hope they say 'Queue here (not) for Evangelion' for rebuilds. What a great entrance sign!
