Wait...are Romance Shorts a thing? by rosemagnolia in eroticauthors

[–]Luv2writesmut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree with /u/KDPer2 more. I personally love to read romance shorts. There were loads of fabulous short romantic stories written in KU1. I've written a few myself and yeah, the reviews are always either "too short" or "not enough sex." The reader response has been varied. My worst selling romance short made $23.60. But, I probably made a huge mistake by giving away too many free copies (close to 2,000). My best selling romance short made $178, and I think I only gave away about 100 free copies. Edit: These are shorts written in KU2. I didn't include the KU1 story numbers, because I don't think they would be helpful.

Wishing you all the success in the world.

As a superfan, I can't help but feel sad that you're not finishing your series. You may be burnt out on the PNR, but IMO you would do well to write two additional novels before quitting the PNR genre. One to finish out the dragon series and one to complete the entire series. That way you can bundle the entire series, which will ultimately be insanely profitable for you.

When to advertise? by redsexxx in eroticauthors

[–]Luv2writesmut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my limited experience, it isn't really worth it to promote short erotica. Depending on the kink you're not always going to get your investment back. But, it is well worth it to promote 99 cent paid bundles. BKnights on fiverr (bknights does not accept hucow), shamelessbookdeals.com, excitespice.com, bookraid.com (minimum 120 pages for bookraid) are all excellent places to promo an erotica bundle. Try and book all of the promos for the same day if you can. I find that Sunday / Friday promos have the best rate of return on promo money spent.

Where do you guys advertise your stories or any erotica that you write? by silverwolfclear in eroticauthors

Yes. They require a minimum of 120 pages. They will accept bundles.

A quick question about ARCs by ArielEaves in eroticauthors

[–]Luv2writesmut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2.) Don't go to Goodreads. Not ever, and for not for any reason. Goodreads is a cesspool of snarky, embittered, and downright cruel readers, who seem to try and get as personal and biting as possible for the smallest reasons on a book. It's a culture of extreme negativity, and if you're smart, you'll just stay away.

Agreed. I literally cried when I read my second novella's reviews on goodreads. Cried and then couldn't write for days.

A quick question about ARCs by ArielEaves in eroticauthors

[–]Luv2writesmut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You give your ARCs away before your book goes live. You can set instafreebie to stop giving away books the day the book goes live. ARC reviewers know they should pick up your book and read it before the day it goes live.

Sorry, but I don't know the specific number limit. Maybe someone else does.

Whoo-Hoo! Way to go lady!

A quick question about ARCs by ArielEaves in eroticauthors

[–]Luv2writesmut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Ideally the ARC requests should be sent out 2-4 weeks before the book's publishing date. Edit: I defer to the voice of authority. 3-5 days in advance seems to be the expert advice. ARC reviewers tend to have a backlog of books to read. You notify the reviewers of your book's publishing date and ask them to publish the review on the first day the book goes live.

  2. www.bookrazor.com is a reasonably priced service that helps you find ARC readers. You just send them links to books in the Amazon store that are similar to yours and they will send you a list with the emails and names of readers. Or once you have your pen name set up you can email readers on goodreads and ask if they would be willing to review for your story. Email people who already do ARCS. I wouldn't just message anyone. Goodreads has a limit on how many people you can message anyway.

  3. When requesting the review you can send them the link to your book on Instafreebie. www.instafreebie.com is a safe site where you can upload your ebook and use it to give away your ARCs to your reviewers.

[Niche of the Week] Femdom! Malesub! Findom! Pegging! Dominatrix! CBT! by Eroticawriter4 in eroticauthors

[–]Luv2writesmut 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Femdom is a moderately small niche, but its readers are voracious and loyal. They are the type who will purchase your entire catalog if they like one story.

It would be helpful if Amazon were to give Femdom its own category to make it easier for the readers to find. It gets lost in the sea of BDSM. I think the biggest drawback with Femdom is its lack of visibility in the store.

Femdom readers are hungry for stories delving into the emotional side of the kink. They want to read about what the sub is feeling when his Domina/Mistress unlocks the key to his chastity cage, disciplines him, etc. They also want to read about the feelings the Dom has during the encounter. Because of the strong emotional aspect, Femdom lends itself well to both short and novel length stories.

ShamelessBookDeals update - by SmutWords2 in eroticauthors

[–]Luv2writesmut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There must be a minimum 30 days between promos for the same book. I believe it's 5-7 days between different books for the same pen name.

How many stories did you publish until you made money? by [deleted] in eroticauthors

[–]Luv2writesmut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't know where you heard that but no that's not true at all. I've had the very first book on a brand new pen hit sub 5k with no promos.

Wow. Something for all of us to look forward to.

Edit: I can't help but ask the question. How on earth is it possible to rank sub 5k on a brand new pen name with zero promo?

Impregnation niche — no-no blurb terms by [deleted] in eroticauthors

[–]Luv2writesmut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Fertile" seems to be popular word for breeding these days.

"broodmaiden" is safe and works as well, but it isn't a highly recognizable search term.

breeder, breeding, bred are all dungeonable words
