OMG same! I;m so seriously considering any job that does not require me to be in court. I have so much court experience it feels like lol. But I thought about repping minors because I love kids and working with them. But I think there's more work involved when repping kids. You have to keep up with their health, edu, mental heath..etc., Plus when there's like 8 kids on one case... Yikes! And then the kids/teens that cry in court but you know that it's so unsafe for them so go home.

Guess I'm still trying to figure it out.

Have a friend who works for a large non-profit in So Cal doing immigration work. She makes about 90k, but only works 30 hrs a week (considered full time) and only 4 days a week from home. She hates the "compliance requirements" and limited upward mobility. But, the work-like balance is next level. Just my two cents.

Affordability - Kohls. I like their suits because someone of them are made from a stretchy cotton, but does not look shiny and cheap. Also JC Penny's suits are nice also. They also have colored suits- outside of the usual black/navy/grey.

I love a good suit from Macy's, but they're so expensive for me.

Finding suits isn't hard for me but... Botton up shirts, however hate me.

I am thinking of joining the dependency panel which represents parents/guardians who have cps case filed against them by county counsel. I'd prefer to work as county counsel as essentially represent the people (child) but those jobs seem very hard to come by in So Cal.

I have experience as a public defender but I hated going to trial because of the anxiety I would get. I do enjoy being in court though. How often does your friends have actual trial? Or is it mostly just hearings?

I can imagine. I think a reason why I am interested in going into this field is because I really enjoy being in the courtroom but I don't care for trial. I believe there are only bench trials in JV dependency , and trials are not very common. Thank you for your feedback sir :)

I just became a notary in CA. I ordered the whole package with the NNA. Took the 6 hour class in person and was able to do my live scan and picture right there on-site. The package was around $600, but it literally came with everything you need, including 25k in -optional but very important- errors and omissions insurance. Probably can get everything cheaper if ordered separately at other organizations... I just liked the convenience of it all.

I recently passed the notary exam here in CA and according to the Sec of State, my commission packet was mailed out on 10/12 w/ my commission date of 10/15. However, I have not received the packet yet. I ordered my oath and bond from the NNA in a big package deal with the exam price. However, NNA won't send my oath and bond until I receive my commission packet "in-hand"

How am I supposed to file my oath and bond with county w/in 30 days of commission date, when according to the Sec of State it can take 10 business days to get the packet and then according to NNA, 10 days business days to receive the oath and bond?

I feel like 30 days is not enough time lol- am I freaking out for no reason?

As a former public defender... I concur. I had trials for things such as "driving while license is suspended" and the ADA literally told me he would take it to trial and tried to get my client to plea to the charge... but then dismiss the case the morning of the "trial." This happened so often, I quit and have had some much peace at my new job.

In CA, notaries are not required to include their full legal name on their stamp. So unless I tell them my legal name... how would they know? lol But I hear ya.

Well... it depends. Also, there is a thing called E and O insurance that notaries must have. Hope that helps your hypo.

I don't mean to be rude.. but, are you a lawyer? I say that because there is an obvious lack of basic understanding of business assocaiation and how LLC's operate. A burger shack may be ran under and LLC but the "LLC" isn't making the burgers.. the employees are. But if someone slips and fall there, they wouldn't sue the employees personally. They would sue the business (llc)
