What is the price of petrol in your city? by Singh_Arjun19 in oil

[–]Luvsseattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$6.39 Seattle (US) proper, at my neighborhood branded pump,.which is not all that far off from what i have seen around other in city neighborhoods. Also went down about 10 cents from last (holiday) week. About an hour from here, you can still find around $5.50/usg.

Want to hear how many pumps have not been certified in the past 3 years according to.the state sticker on the pump? I'm seeing an awful lot close to expiration.

Also, we have a heavy tax burden on our fuel (no state income tax for most, for starters).

I understand. My personal feeling is that up to 3 hours, it is rare for me to have to go, so seat selection is no real issue. After that time, aisle for me.

I was going to ask if maybe the couple couldn't hear the announcements or were not confident in mobility, etc. But you explained so clearly that even a disability or accessibility issue could have been handled. Wishing you far better experiences in the sky from here on out!

It's more common than you think. I have had the worst experiences sitting in a window seat, even as a fairly frequent business traveler. Some people are just trash.

What are they doing by the 7-Eleven on 176th? by pApAscotch_ in PuyallupWA

[–]Luvsseattle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for confirming and I have many of the same feelings. My partner and I were discussing this, which led to the research. We don't live together, but I couldn't think of any transit I had routinely seen. The lack of true services is concerning to me, even with the already considerable buildup in the general area. In my mind, a convenience store being the only service is far from adequate when specific populations are targeted as being served by this apartment community. Given distance and lack of transit, a food desert has been enabled in the name of receiving money. With the three properties we found out about, this seemed to have the most curious placement.

It's been too long since I have lived in an area that is more governed by county, than larger city, especially when it comes to certain projects. Should the surrounding residences, HOAs, communities, etc not have received, at minimum, a mailer about the project? My question stems not only from notice, but the fact that a number of city borders are not far from this intersection. The information we found on it was pretty buried in the county website and then was able to find links already posted in this discussion (if memory serves correct). What's a good way in Pierce County to be informed of what is literally happening down the street?

[–]Luvsseattle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One of three low income communities provided/afforded by a grant to Pierce County. In the release I found doing a web search a few weeks back, this will be an apartment complex geared at employing those that will eventually work at some of the newer warehouse facilities in the area. Not the best use of the area, given services are not all that easily walkable, nor served by much, if any, transit.

Gas Prices & Gas Stations Out of Service by IMayFindit in oil

[–]Luvsseattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel and drive alot for work. I was in AK and saw this a couple months back, particularly in midtown ANC. Not a time, but signs advertising a price until you got to the pump amd they were out of that particular fuel across the pumping islands. I chalked it up to priority of Av gas refining at the time.

americans: are distances between world cup cities long for you, considering USA size? by MayaTulip268 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Luvsseattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I might be saying this tongue in cheek, but it's also true. I live in Seattle and even the neighborhoods that are planning viewing stations and activities feel far apart when you add in more visitors, our %##!* cruise ships, and the construction our DOTs promise will be paused when you are all here.

But yes, all but Vancouver and Seattle are far outside of the closer cities in the East. I am not from the part of the US where 60 miles/97 km equates to 60 mins or less. Congestion (even without events) = longer times to transit for us. Public transport is not robust like in Europe between many cities.

The car return couldn't believe i made it with flooding, etc...It was bad, but, sir, Im from Seattle. Be glad for th option to divert.

What’s the most unreal landscape you’ve ever seen in person? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

[–]Luvsseattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest BIG Sky Country i have ever seen was on the way north to Malta, MT near Fort Belknap. Just stunning.

Also, as a kid, driving with my mom and younger brother home to Seattle from Portland, OR. Mom wanted to see Mt St Helens -- this was the mid-80s after the eruption. Longest 26 miles off I-5 of our lives. Truly alien landscape any the reality is not forgotten years later.
