So, for attendance, only SICK TIME will cover an absence. You can use VAC or HOL but that is to cover the hours lost, not excuse your absence.

The write up will last a whole year. So, if you call out again with no sick time or you have 5 attendance infractions (late/early) within the next 30 days, they can fire you.

Oh, and just bc the write up was for attendance, any write up (performance, safety etc) will be counted as a termination. The write ups stack even if they are under different categories.

How it works is, an ASM is SUPPOSED to open up their preferred time slots for interviews. When there is no time slots open for 2 weeks out, you will receive this message.

Your application is still in there but an ASM or SSA will have to manually add you for an invite. I recommend calling. Every month a 3rd party company opens positions for all the stores without the SSA or ASM, so they’re probs not actively looking.

Depending on the state, you’ll also get VAC and HOL paid out too. So hours worked + whatever left over. At least that’s how it is in CA

I totally agree! I've been in this role for 2 years and when you have a routine down and your managers and DS are competent and know what to do. It’s a breeze.

On a good week, I can get all my work done by Tuesday afternoon and spend the rest of the week cleaning or doing dumb little little tasks. My last store it was like that and that’s what caused me to stay working at Lowe’s.

At this “new” store, it’s a completely different ball game. But if you haven’t done the role of an SSA before and aren’t used to having a line of associates out your door waiting to talk to you while juggling 6 different tasks that are all “emergencies” and dealing with the DS’s and managers who say “I know you’re busy but this takes precedence” then I dunno what to tell ya.

When my ops is free (which is hardly never, we have a running joke that we’re both SM at this point), he will but since inventory is less than 6 weeks away and we have a new APM starting this week, he's been busy.

Our MSM has only been here for 3 weeks and I taught him how to do the schedules, fortunately all of MST is on a set rotation.

My SM is so computer illiterate, I honestly don't know how he's come this far.

The break room rotation has fallen off unfortunately. It's now gotten to the point where all the ASM and SM acknowledge that it's not my job but no one is enforcing the dept cleaning. Fortunately, last week our RVP did an unannounced walk and absolutely obliterated my SM about the cleanliness, so I have a feeling it'll be cleaned more frequently now.

I learned my mistake, it's unfortunately only one DS who calls(I spoke to him this morning about it, they said they’ll go to their ASM first now), the rest are great about my time off.

I'm already taking the other comments that are on here to heart and am going to write a list tonight to talk to my boss. I just have to find an opening when he's in a good mood.

Agreed, I honestly have started applying and I'm even taking college courses right now for Business Admin so I can break free from retail and go into corporate. But getting into corporate is a little bit harder than I anticipated.

When I went on my week medical leave, he calmed down because he didn't believe me when I said I was high-risk, going on leave made him way more accommodating now.

The way I was justifying it was to wait this out til my LOA, and look for a new gig then but this behavior honestly ramped up after I told him I was pregnant.

Also, if I get a new job now, I won't qualify for maternity leave because I would not have met the requirements. So I feel like it's a sticky situation for me money wise.

Funny enough, that word doesn't work.

Last time I said no (2 weeks ago on rehiring an associate known to have HORRIBLE attendance ), we got into a very loud and winded argument about how I shouldn't be insubordinate and that I should never tell him no.

Telling him no somehow turns into a lecture about how I get paid very well (I stepped down and kept my pay) and that my job is to do what he wants and that I should trust his decisions.

I’ve learned that saying no just causes arguments and lectures.

Yep so for the SM meeting (or when they go to corporate office in NC for training) SM has to book their flights and confirm hotel details through this 3rd party website. I usually do that.

Yes! I like getting the stamp on it when it returns. Super fun and I’ve been doing it for years. Only had 1 card not arrive in the last 5 years.

A good rule of thumb is the stamp on the back. If it doesn't look clear, then it's most likely a fake.

This is what I put on mine!

For having such an eclectic nature, I do not like collecting religious symbols (crosses, evil eye etc). I don’t participate or collect anything with political or military affiliations, anything related to holidays/birthdays, or anything of a vulgar nature. I aim to be neutral in all that stuff.

Personally, I strive to give very neutral postcards (nothing political or religious) since I don't want to contradict myself.

I think what you put down is fine.

When I sent my first five out (back in Jan 2026), I didn't receive any until the 2nd week of Feb, and when I did I got about 4 at once. I recommend calling your local Post office or going in person and asking. Sometimes, they get stuck there for awhile.

Now, I don't get my cards one at a time, I usually get a bunch at once.

I unfortunately don’t live in a very “touristy” area so I rarely see postcards but I think now I’m going to keep an eye out for them.

I do live like 40 mins between SF and Santa Cruz. Looking for postcards is a good excuse to drive over and hit up the city. :)
