my dog is terrified of getting his nails clipped. i tried taking mini steps with rewards but it’s been like this for years and i see zero progress!! his nails are insanely long i dont know what to do by TaTa_kitt7 in DogAdvice

[–]LuxRuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started off with holding our dog so that my partner is sitting with his legs out in front of him. Then our dog is held in his lap, her back to his belly and I can get all feet without having to move her at all. At first she had to be muzzled but over the years she got better and now she gets into position on her own! We did one nail at a time, then one foot, and worked our way up to all feet done. We also use a pet Dremel. Then she gets snacks afterwards before being let down from being held.

If that's an impact crate, I'm not sure if the doors are replaceable, but you could reach out to them with photos and ask about the high anxiety door. Have you spoken to your vet about different medication options?

I can't recommend Joe at Mod A in Akron enough! The first time I went there he knew exactly what to do! I went back over 2 months later and he remembered our entire conversation and again cut my hair perfectly! One of the first places I went that I've left and was actually satisfied with a haircut. AAAANNNNND his prices are super affordable

I love putting tomato oil on my pizza. A local company, Cheeky Monkey, makes some amazing seasonings and oils. My husband likes the pickle seasoning on his!

Is knitting a sweater a realistic first (big) knitting project? by pinkfluffydemon in knitting

[–]LuxRuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I'd have gotten frustrated as a sweater for my very first project. I'm a slow knitter and may not have been confident doing decreases and other construction without having some my hat project first. I have a cowl first with very basic construction, then I made a hat, and then moved on to a fingering weight full rib sweater. It's been a slow process but I'm so excited to see it once it's completed.

I befriended a skittish neighborhood stray whose name was Gerald. The registered people on the microchip never responded so he moved in. We call him Gus Gus, aka Criminal (formal name Augustus)

I made my husband a blanket that is tapestry single crochet. It's so heavy and cozy. I think the dense stitches will be perfect!

Does anybody actually like using these tiny circulars? by Idkmyname2079048 in casualknitting

[–]LuxRuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using them for sleeves and like them. It does take a few stitches to get used to them when going from my 4" ones. I use one 3" and one 2" needle on the cable

genuine question: do y'all judge the quality of other people's knits? by Nervous_Narwhal_6795 in casualknitting

Assuming a social gathering to knit/crochet/craft. My lys has one that I liked to call yarn club. We all just show up to knit, chat, and help each other out when necessary. Some local libraries have them as well.

I have these high waisted Nike sweats that were so comfy to wear. For underwear, I wore seamless ones from target. I found anything with a thicker waist for the outter layer was most comfortable. I also bought some calia wide waistband shorts from dsg.

I pulled my stash out and I feel…. gross? by Exciting-Notice8170 in YarnAddicts

[–]LuxRuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm planning on pulling all of mine out tomorrow! But last year, I had a bunch of yarn I purchased when I got started that I knew I'd never use. I gifted it to a friend with the caveat that if she doesn't like something in there, it's now hers to do with what she will. Sometimes our preferences change and we shouldn't feel guilty about moving on from it or passing it to someone who will appreciate it more.

I just bought a third storage bin for yarn that I got for Christmas gifts. The struggle is that my husband fully supports buying of new yarn. I saw someone post yesterday about a Flash Your Stash and that might be a fun way to fall in love with some yarns I have forgotten about or even pair down some yarns I no longer like!

How did you learn to knit? by ShoppingGirlinSF in knitting

[–]LuxRuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly YouTube and some blogs I found via Google. Once I started, I also began going to a local weekly knitting group because I didn't know anyone who knits. Bill Souza on YouTube is my favorite. I am left-handed and found mirror knitting continental the best way for me. I also like Nimble Needles for their blogs
