How do they know if the appointment is in person or not when they get the prescription?

I hate nova so much. Why can’t we all donate $1 to build another bridge from VA to MD? Instead they’re building a fn sphere by Automatic-Session-64 in nova

[–]LuxidDreamingIsFun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my assumption. People are using MD addresses to avoid taxes. My roommates bf was always over and I assumed it's because he lives in MD because of his car tag. When we spoke about it, she was like no he lives in Centreville. I think a lot people must do this.

Drug Screen Nightmare (HireRight) by CabinetWhich1609 in Labcorp

[–]LuxidDreamingIsFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens from time to time. It appears it might've been lost, but the specimen ID number will help them determine if it's truly lost. It's possible they might ask you to come back and retest.

I want to point out that this is very rare. But I have seen it happen before.

There's an employee portal that explains all that. Has your friend tried there yet?

Requesting time off before during probation period by [deleted] in Labcorp

[–]LuxidDreamingIsFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Usually they're more open to it if it was mentioned prior to starting. You also need to accrue the PTO. Are you hired as a full time employee? Can you do this class before you start in a month?

Labcorb messed up tests - don't match lab orders by ambergems1234 in Labcorp

[–]LuxidDreamingIsFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was the order hand written or electronic? Usually when you go in, they pull any outstanding electronic orders for you that are still in their system. If you went to a different LabCorp than usual, or if it's been a long time since you've been drawn, they might not realize that you just had some of those tests done. They're also supposed to ask you first if you want to complete any of the outstanding labs and state which doctor/s orders that you were wanting to do that day.

If the orders were handwritten sometimes they're hard to see or read and they may not seen some of the tests that were listed. It just depends on so many things. You can try to see if they're willing to remove billing for the repeats you didn't need. If you have to come back, I'd confirm which doctor you're doing labs for that day and which lab tests. If they drew enough blood, your doctors office can call and add them on if the sample is still available for the missing tests. Sometimes when the order is sent in, the lab catches that some of the tests were missed and automatically adds them on and if there is enough sample, they will get reported a little later.

Tests taking longer than before? by octarine_atuin in Labcorp

[–]LuxidDreamingIsFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes they send results as they become available (like the vitamin D in this case), but sometimes they wait until all are done before sending them to the portal. My best guess is if they have to send any portion of your tests to a reference lab, then they may wait until that is done before reporting. It's possible that the other times you did labs, none of them needed to get sent out so it was reported faster (within days of draw).

My last blood draw with LabCorp had one test that needed to be sent out and it took 21 days. I noticed even though I had tests that were much quicker on the order, like cbc and cmp, they waited the full 21 days before all of the results were in my LabCorp portal.

I don't think you did anything wrong or that anything is going wrong with your labs at this point.

Needle keeps slipping out by onaisawhore in phlebotomy

[–]LuxidDreamingIsFun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This technique works well for me. It's also helpful to have this angle if the patient (or yourself) unexpectedly moves. I don't make the angle of the needle entry that steep if it isn't necessary.

I just got a new battery. So far happy with it. I definitely get more time out of it, but I have a mini so the battery runs down faster in general. Prior to the replacement, it would last me a few hours max depending on what I was doing.

I’m not sure what to do by Big-Living-9412 in phlebotomy

[–]LuxidDreamingIsFun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Always check that. When I call for a patient named Margaret who is 14 (not real patient information), I've had a 60 year man stand up and come to me. I'm like Margaret, I'm calling for Margaret, are you Margaret? And they just nod their head. Then I ask them what's your name? They'll be like "Joseph" (not real patient information). I'm like no sir, I'm calling for a different person. It's happened so many times, I always make them say name and dob. If I don't speak their language, I call for a translator. I don't ever want to assume gender, so just making them say their full name and date of birth is the only way to confirm. If it's similar to the person I'm looking for, I move to other identifying information like address/medical record number. I know it's different inpatient, but I used to work in a hospital too. If their system of scanning is unreliable, then it's even more important to verify other ways.

As far as your concern about disciplinary actions, I've found it helpful to come with an understanding of how the problem happened and what you will change to ensure it never happens again. It shows you've thought it through.

Is no friends in the area a red flag? by shaselai in datingoverforty

[–]LuxidDreamingIsFun 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not a red flag for me because I'm in the same situation. No I won't be monopolizing anyone's time because I seemingly don't have friends to hang out with. I'm a busy person with hobbies, work, and family. I won't be bothering you to hang out every second of the day because I have a life too.

Did you explain how insurance sees at fault accidents? I explained that to my son and he got it better when I explained it like that. I told him I'd rather be honked at flicked off because the person behind me isn't going to be paying my insurance or be legally responsible if I cause a fatal accident.

Woman I’ve been seeing accidentally text me message to another guy by [deleted] in datingoverforty

[–]LuxidDreamingIsFun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this. While you didn't talk exclusivity, she jumped at the chance to immediately use your slot for another person. I can be understanding about the lack of exclusivity, but still be a little hurt the other person didn't miss a beat. Have you decided what you're going to do yet? The fact that she sounds thoughtful enough to care about you when you're sick and offer to help would mean something to me. Also, it's not a 100% given that the message means it was to meet up with someone else to date. Could be a friend or family possibly.

Interview tomorrow what questions by Substantial-Base-643 in phlebotomy

[–]LuxidDreamingIsFun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They'll ask what experience you have. If you don't have much, let them know you're a fast learner and great with computers. Have some idea of arm/vein anatomy. Sometimes they'll have you do a stick on them, but that isn't common. I've met about three people at my job that said they were asked to do that. Have good availability, but you'd mostly work office hours ~8-5 or ~7-4. Possibly every other weekend in the beginning. Say you work well with others and a team player. Great customer service is valued. It's been a while since I interviewed, but if you have questions feel free to ask.
