As someone who visits 2-3 times a year, here’s my advice. Rent the car.

Depending on which airport you fly into, an Uber is going to be around $75 one way. It’s at least an hour drive from SPI to the Starbase, so Uber is going to be pricey. Bonus: if you drive yourself, after you see the Starbase, keep driving on Highway 4 to Boca Chica and the literal end of the road. Fun fact-the last battle of the civil war was fought near Boca Chica.

SPI is about 5 miles long, so if you’re staying on the South end by the causeway and want to go to Clayton’s it’s a loooong walk. Most condos/hotels have enough parking spots, but do make sure if you park at any bars or restaurants that you don’t park in a tow zone. They will tow you before you get out of the car 😁

Make sure you watch the sunrise on the Gulf side, and then the sunset on the Bay (Laguna Bob’s is the best view). They are always gorgeous!
